Kennesaw Mountain

We decided to stop at Kennesaw Mountain National Park which is the site of a civil war battle.    The idea was to stay for a couple of hours so Brad could do some work.

It was a brief trip but we loved learning a little about this battle.

We drove a few miles to Cheatham Hill which was the site of one of the bigger battles in this area.   There were markers identifying the Confederate and Union sites.

This is the Illinois Monument that was dedicated to the area 50 years after the battle.  There were a lot of men from the state of Illinois who lost their lives in this battle.

This is a tunnel the Union army built to try and attack.

Brad and I could have spent hours here.   Colt was also very interested in the history of this area too.   Some of the other kids weren't that interested.
