Brody's baseball

Well the baseball season is almost over and I finally managed to get a few pictures and 2 very quick videos of Brody playing.  (I have 2 more games to get some more video)   He has done such a great job and we are so proud of him.  We are mostly proud of his effort and the way he pays attention to his coaches and their direction.   Whenever he strikes out he always has a good attitude (even though I'm sad for him).

Bo's Ride

Bo has been having lots of turns on the John Deere Gator. It still makes me a little nervous but so far he hasn't fallen out.

Darby is a good driver.

Red Peppers

We invited some friends over for a memorial day BBQ.  We put together our menu and shopping list and I went to the grocery store.   Later I realized I forgot some red peppers.  Since Brad was at track practice I sent him a message to pick some up.

Being the creative, thoughtful man that he is, Brad came home with a variety of peppers.  One of each: red, green, yellow, orange.

While this is great and colorful it was not what I asked for. (see text message above).   I wasn't sure how to react/respond so I very sweetly asked him what in my text message he did not understand.

In true Brad fashion, he defended his pepper choice.  While I understand some of what he was thinking I still did not get my two red peppers.   So, our guests had kebabs with orange, yellow and green peppers.  The other red pepper was used for something else.

In the end it was not a big deal and no one really cared.  But in the moment it was a glitch in our communication/marriage/relationship.   Thankfully we can laugh about things like this and its such a good reminder that marriage (and any relationship) is always a work in progress and will never be perfect.   Hopefully we can always approach these conflicts/miscommunication with grace, forgiveness and a little bit of humor.

P.S. Brad made a public apology to our guests for their lack of red peppers.

Ollie's capris

The kids almost always dress themselves and I love seeing what they pick out. The other day Ollie came downstairs with some shorts/capris that I didn't recognize. I asked him where he got them and he said his drawer. I asked them if they were his and he said yes. They looked really cute on him. I checked the tag to see they were 18 months.

At least we are getting good use out of our clothes.

First Slip N Slide of the Season

With this warmer weather the kids have been begging for a pool, sprinkler or slip n slide. I still don't think its quite hot enough but obviously the kids don't mind one bit.

Colt's buddy Sam was over and then his other friend, Dax, came over with his sister and nanny.  It was a busy but perfect afternoon.

Shaving Cream

Ollie wanted to practice his letters with shaving cream. I let him and Bo play with it.

I guess I need to supervise Bo a little more.

Devin's birthday party

Brody, Colt & Ollie were invited to their friend Devin's birthday party. Brody had a baseball game so he was only able to go for an hour. I left Colt & Ollie there while I took Brody. His mom sent me these pictures of them at the party.

Spontaneous Camping - Day 2

Since we were only staying one night we decided to not bring the pack n play. Well lesson learned. Bo took forever to fall asleep and whenever he woke up he would crawl around trying to find a place to burrow so he could go back to sleep. And of course he was sleeping in between me and Brad so all the burrowing was with Brad.

Other than that the kids slept great....almost until 7:30.  This means I got to sleep in.

We spent most of the day down by the river.  Brad tried to pan for some gold but got absolutely nothing.. not even a flake.

The kids threw rocks and played by the river.

Darby threw a rock and hit Ollie in the head.
Ollie slipped on a rock and fell in the river.
Bo did too.
So did Darby.

We had a great, quick trip.

Brad and I were both exhausted on our way home.

Spontaneous Camping Trip - Day 1

Last Saturday we had a busy morning of baseball pictures, a baseball game and watching our cousin's soccer game. When we got back to the house at lunch time I was looking forward to the rest of the day where we had nothing planned.  It didn't take too long for Brad to come up with an idea.

"What if we go camping?"

So we did.

It took us a few hours to get packed up but we made it up to Denny Creek.

The kids had fun playing and exploring and of course roasting marshmallows.
