The Hall of Fame banquet was on Friday night in the indoor track facility. It was a nice event and started off with a few songs from the Glee Club. I loved this part. I wish I would have taken some video.
The current coach introduced each inductee and then the inductee was able to get up and say a few words. Each inductee also had a "presenter" to give them their medal. Brad actually chose me. I was honored because he could have easily picked one of his college running buddies and instead picked someone who never witnessed any of his competitive running.
Here we are listening to Brad's introduction.
Putting the medal on Brad. (yes you can see a little bit of my belly in this picture)
One of the first things Brad was supposed to do was introduce his presenter. I knew he had been thinking a lot about what he was going to say so he started to say "umm, this is umm," he looked at me and I honestly thought he might have forgotten my name. He continued "I met her in the parking lot a few hours ago and invited her in for dinner. What's her name? Oh, yes Janelle." After a few laughs from the crowd he gave me a proper introduction.
Brad was supposed to keep his talk to 10 minutes. We think it went a little longer. I don't think it lasted much longer than that but Brad thinks it might have been as much as 30 minutes. He definitely doesn't mind talking.
The inductees. The two ladies in the middle are the mom and daughter of an athlete who died in a car accident.
Most of the distance runners were captivated by Brad and peppered him with questions afterwards. This is where Brad shines the most. He loved it!
One of Brad's good friends from Michigan, Jeff Barnett, and his family came down for the weekend and for the banquet. It was so much fun to have them here and I know Brad really appreciated it.

It was a very fun and special night for all of us. I'm so proud of you Brad!
