Chef Brody

Brody is in a culinary class and had to make a dinner for the family. He chose salmon and fried rice. He did a great job and hope he will be making more meals for us.

Conferences

Bo had parent/teacher conferences a few weeks ago so he had two days off school. I took him and his friend Finn to see The Wild Robot.  The boys thought it was good but a little long.  I loved it!

On our way home we stopped to check out the salmon in the creek near our house.

A few action shots from Darby's basketball tournament a few weeks ago.

Red Rush Season

Bo finished off his soccer season with the Red Rush. He had a fun time playing and we enjoy watching him.  He was always ready to take the corner kicks.

Halloween pt. 2

Brody went to a Halloween Party on the day after Halloween. He dressed up as Baby Driver. I have no idea what that is but I guess its a Netflix movie.

Spooky Spaghetti

For the first time in our Sunset history, Spooky Spaghetti was on a Friday night. Bo had a basketball tournament and surprisingly his games didn't conflict (if it had been on Friday he would have had to miss Spooky Spaghetti). Brad wasn't too excited about the idea of going because it is absolute chaos at this event. I can't blame him. But I reminded him this is our very last one....and my eyes started leaking.  This perspective and reminder changed his outlook and he had a great time.   The best part about the whole event is watching Bo (and our other kids when they were there) walking around the school with confidence and seeing all their friends.

Bo and I were stick men.

Brad was Vinnie.....again.

Halloween

Halloween was a busy and fun day. I was asked to sub in PE so I asked a friend to borrow her 80's workout costume. It was a hit....at least among the staff. I'm not sure how many kids really understood why I was dressed that way except they knew it was Halloween.

I was able to rearrange my PE schedule so I could go to Bo's classroom party.  It was fun to be there and see the kids running around and having fun.

Bo didn't dress up for school but he did wear his Halloween Pajama pants after a little bit of convincing.

And then for Halloween night, Bo dressed up as a Stick figure and walked around the neighborhood with his friend Finn and Louie.  I went with them.  For the first 20 minutes it was lightly sprinkling but then it started raining really hard.  We didn't go nearly as long as any of them wanted to but their cold, wet feet and hands made it hard to stay outside.  Don't worry they still got plenty of candy.

Pumpkin Carving

My friend Jen and I organized a last minute pumpkin carving party. It was hard to find even an hour where we could all be together but it was enough to get some pumpkins carved before a few of them had to head off to basketball practice.

We were so thankful we were able to quickly figure something out.

Most Embarrassing Parent

We are working hard to be the most embarrassing parents.  Actually we don't even have to work that hard, we are just embarrassing.  When we were in Hawaii, Brad and I saw a volleyball game on TV.   We were inspired by their Ace sign and decided to make one for Darby's last volleyball game.  She was so embarrassed but everyone else thought it was awesome.

Morning Sunrise

Not easy coming back from Hawaii but living in a beautiful area and coming home to our kids made it easier.  We had a beautiful sunrise a few mornings after we returned and Darby was quick to get outside to take some pictures.  I'm glad she appreciates the beauty.

The last morning

We had our last morning in Kauai.  Our flight didn't leave until 1:00 and since we were waking up by 6:00 we still had some time to enjoy our vacation.  We started with an early morning coffee/tea and went for a walk/hike by our hotel.

Brad did some last minute shopping before we left for the airport.

We had the best time and are so thankful for everyone who helped with our kids back home.  We missed them but they told us they didn't miss us so..... it made it easier to be away.    We are already talking about plans to go back.
