9/11 Memorial

We took the subway to go down to the 9/11 memorial.  One thing we encountered in New York is how helpful people are.   I'm sure some of it has to do with the fact that we look a little crazy, taking 5 kids into the city.   But often times without even asking for help there were many people quick to give us directions or tips in navigating our way.  We will always have great memories of this and also was a good example to our kids how to be helpful.

Brody was the most eager about visiting New York and one of the things on his list was to ride on the New York Subway.  I'm glad he was able to experience this, for better or worse.

The 9/11 Memorial was very powerful.  The two giant holes where clearly big buildings should be, help to convey the loss of the event.   It is also strange to be at a memorial for an event that happened during my lifetime, unlike the Vietnam war, World War 2 or the Civil War.

We didn't go into the museum but we did wander over to a Kiosk where the guy started explaining the events of the day and also showed us pictures.  This was especially good for Darby & Bo who haven't learned as much about this day.
