Soccer star

Darby had the chance to be a guest player on another team.  We were actually in town for the tournament and it was a joy to watch her play.

Another teenager!

We have another teenager in the house.  

Colt turned 13 last week.   We celebrated with donuts, Subway, French toast casserole and some soccer games.   Our neighbor also made him some cookies. 

Lake football

We met our friends at the Lake.  It was supposed to be for skim boarding but mostly the kids played football in the water.  

Final races

We had our final boat races on the last day.  Everyone participated and named their boat. 

 

 

Colt was the winner.  Dan was 2nd and Brad came in 3rd.

Backpacking days

A few more pictures from our backpacking trip.  

 

The dads and moms enjoyed talking  and hanging out with each other.

 

The kids loved playing Rush (although they were eaten by mosquitos), playing cards, making boats and crossing the river.   Always a good time.  

Boat races

One of the first things the kids did is build the boat course.  They did this last year and it was a hit so they were all anxious to do it again.  

It was fun to watch their engineering skills at work. 

 

After they built the course there was lots of hanging out and exploring.   

Elk horn again

We were excited for our annual backpack trip with the Hodo family.   We talk all year about where we want to go and it always seems to be a bit of a last minute decision.  A lot of it has been dependent on weather and if we can have a fire.   

I left the decision making up to Brad & Dan.  They decided to visit Elkhorn Dispersed Campground again.  This is the same place we went last year.   Since we were hiking in 90+ degree weather it was nice to know what we were getting ourselves into.  It was a short hike and we would be near a river.  We also can't have a fire anywhere in the state so it didn't matter where we went.  

Darby had some trouble with her back pack on the way in.  The rest of the kids were ahead of us and did a fabulous job! 

Lake Sammamish

We had the opportunity to go out on our neighbor's boat.   We went during the day so their nanny, Kiki, drove the boat.  It was a REALLY hot day so it was great to help us stay cool. 

Darby & Colt both wakeboarding and then tried to do some wake surfing.  They were both able to get up but didn't really surf a lot.  

They finished it off by doing some inner tubing.
