Left handed coloring

I love the time when it's just me & Darby. Although I seem to be busier since she wants my full attention. At one of her earliest check ups the doctor said she might be left handed. I was a little surprised but I am starting to think he might be right. I love watching her hold the crayons with her left hand and she has a really good hold on it.

And isn't this the best smile?

Top tooth

Look who lost his top tooth. He pulled it out by himself and he is SO excited for the tooth fairy to come, especially since she missed the first night.

Just like my brothers

I let the boys go potty outside. (feel free to judge)
They now have a spot where they usually go.

Darby has obviously watched her brothers.

Ducks, Space Needle & the Troll

Lori took the boys on another fun outing. I was bummed to miss out but it was nice to have some time with just Darby & Bo. Darby napped for part of it so for a while it was just me and a sleepy newborn.

They started with a trip on the Ride the Ducks.  They loved it, especially their quackers.

They followed it up with a trip up the Space Needle.

Then they went for a quick trip to check out the Fremont  Troll.

They came home with souvenirs and a mini blizzard in hand.  We are spoiled!

Pumpkin Patch at Remlinger

Colt & Ollie had a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch at Remlinger Farm. Lori was still in town and offered to take the boys (along with her kids). I really wanted to go on the field trip but wasn't sure how I would manage it since it was still less than 2 weeks after Bo was born.

The kids had a good time but the "mom" report was that it was chaotic and it was a good choice that I did not go.   (Lots of schools and very little management of other kids)  At least it made me feel better about missing out.

LOVE this picture of Colt.  :)

Since I wasn't there Ms. Pat did a great job watching out for my boys (along with Lori).

Mis-Communication

The other night I was VERY tired. The kids were in bed and I had finished feeding Bo. I laid him down in the bassinet and crawled into bed.  A few minutes later he started stirring and fussing.  I knew he probably needed to be burped again but I was SO tired.  I sent Brad a text (because he was downstairs and I didn't even want to get out of bed)

Here is a little sample of our communication.

After he asked if I was being funny I started to fume a little.  I put the phone down after my response and didn't check it for a few minutes.  In the meantime Bo was getting more agitated and started crying.   I looked at my phone again because I didn't understand why Brad was not coming upstairs to help out.

I looked at my phone again and realized I had sent my sister the message.

Bless her!  She was already in her car ready to drive to my house (an hour and a half away) to get Bo.  And of course she was wondering why in the world I needed her to get him.  Just about every possible scenario was going through her mind.  I can only imagine.

Brad finally came upstairs and I told him what had happened.  Fortunately we were able to laugh about it because I certainly wasn't laughing a few minutes earlier.  Yet another joy of being a parent and being a wife.

My adopted sister

I am forever thankful for this beautiful lady. Lori came out to visit with her two oldest kids but she also came to help as we adjusted to another baby.

A few of the things she helped with:

changing diapers
feeding my kids (and hers) breakfast, lunch & dinner (multiple times)
Getting kids dressed
Bought groceries
Took me and Bo to doctor's appointments (and watched Darby while we were there)
Helped us pick out paint colors
Bought light bulbs to change our lights
Cleaned our oven
Packed lunches
Took the kids on various outings (space needle, ride the ducks, ferris wheel, the troll, Seattle Aquarium, Everett Children's Museum and a few different parks)
Her kids played with our kids (that alone was enough to help out)
And most importantly kept me company.

The good news....they will be back in December and there will be less need for her to help and more time for us to hang out again.

Randomness

A few random pictures from Brad's phone.

Checking out the squirrel on our back deck.  The boys wanted to feed him.
We didn't want him  hanging around.

Cars 2 Movie Night

Angie, Abi & Andrew came over to watch the kids while I took Bo to his 2 week checkup.
They stayed for dinner and a movie.  The kids watched Cars 2.   Darby wasn't interested for very long but it was a nice way to end the week and have a low key evening.

First Bath for Bo

Bo finally had his first bath. I think this was the longest for any of our babies. That's what happens when you are #5 I suppose. He was pretty content with all of it.

Helicopters

Colt & Ollie collected a bunch of helicopters around the yard. They were so excited when Brad told them he would fly them from upstairs. I loved watching their faces.
