Chimacum Soccer

Ollie had a soccer game in Chimacum.  It's about a 2 hour drive but you also have the option to take a ferry.  We decided to take the Edmonds/Kingston ferry but good fortune was not on our side and we missed the 10:20 ferry even though we were 45 minutes early.   Ugh!  We caught the next ferry but it was a long wait and we barely made it for the start of the game.  Ollie and I went down to the water while we were waiting and took a few pictures.    It was a really beautiful day for a ferry ride.

I had to sit on the hill behind the soccer goal because I was getting too annoyed by parents etc.

Ten minutes into the game Ollie's team was already down by 2.  I was worried it was going to be a blowout but things turned around and Ollie's team won 5-4 in a very intense and back and forth game.  Thank goodness!

1st Middle School XC Meet

Colt & Ollie had their first middle school cross country meet this year.

Colt & Ollie ran in the same race since they put all 7th and 8th grade boys together.

Ollie beat Colt by 4 seconds....but it was a great race by both of them and I just LOVE watching them run.

Adventure Buddy

I am so thankful for the friends in my life, especially ones who go on adventures with me.  Karen and I decided to go hiking and we were having a tough time trying to pick one so we just settled on an oldie but a goodie, Poo Poo Point.

Big Boy Soccer

Colt is playing on the same team he played on last year.   We love watching him play even if some of the kids he plays with and against are much bigger than him.

Saturday soccer

Saturday soccer for Bo.  It's so fun watching him play.

Taking a corner kick....and he does a really good job with them.

Texas Hold' em

The kids slept well when we were at the Ranger Station. It's probably because of their late nights playing some Texas Hold'em.

They were very serious about their poker.

Thankfully no tears when someone got out.

Brothers

I had to document this sweet moment between Colt & Bo. Usually if they are on the couch together they are fighting over who has the most space.  This time they were watching the Simpsons and playing a game on Colt's ipod.

The next day I went to curriculum night at the elementary school and saw this little bit of Bo's writing.   Big Brothers really do have an impact on the younger ones.

Motor bike

Dave sent up a little motor bike with Steve & Sharon.

Rob was so great in getting the boys on it to test it out.  He also helped Darby ride around on it even though her feet couldn't touch the ground.

Target Practice

While we were at the Ranger Station we drove to find a place to shoot some guns.  Brody & Ollie weren't interested in shooting but the others had a chance to try it out.

We didn't last a super long time because it was really hot.

Washoes

We had our Washoe tournament again.

Bo made it to the finals with Shelly as his partner.

He went up against Brody & Sharon.

The other kids had a strong showing, making it to the quarterfinals and semi-finals.

Brad and I ended up being partners and got crushed in the first match.

Bo was an amazing player and was a crowd favorite to take the title.

Just look at that focus.

In a very close battle, Brody and Sharon came out as the winners.  (There was a discussion of having the final game (next year) be a best of 3, since it was such a close contest)

Ranger Station

One of the annoying things about school starting before Labor Day is that we always have plans to go to central Oregon for the Smith family reunion (Brad's family). The kids missed a day of school on Friday. We left late Thursday after Brad got back from his cross country meet. We drove an hour and a half to Chehalis where we parked in the Walmart parking lot.

Friday morning we got an early start and drove the remaining 5 hours to the Ranger Station.  It was so hot when we got there but thankfully that would be the hottest day of the weekend.

More to come, but here is a picture of the Washoe tournament.

And a picture of Darby & Uncle Denny

Swimming

Darby & Bo had early dismissal and asked to go to the lake (because we still had summer temperatures).

They tried to climb onto the pilon so they could jump off.  Bo is still a bit too small for it but Darby finally figured out how to do it.
