Flu Break

For those that follow our blog on a somewhat daily basis you may have noticed a lack of posts recently.   I have pictures ready to upload but have been sidelined due to the flu.  The kids got sick Sunday night and I came down with it Tuesday evening.  This is the 2nd flu that has hit our family in about a month.   I wanted to cry but was able to gain perspective again after a little while.   My life is good.  Our life is good.  This momentary sickness is not fun but we are so thankful for all that we have, especially our generally good health.

It seems this flu bug was a quick one, 24 hours.   So we should be back to full swing soon.

For the record, we all got our flu shots.  This is a stomach flu.

Rocking Chair

I'm not a very crafty person. I leave most of that stuff to my sister.  She has that gift.  I don't.

But I decided to take on a project.

We got this rocking chair from our neighbor about 5 years ago.  It is awesome.  I love using it, especially on a warm summer day.  I can watch my kids play while I eat my bon bons and sip on my chai tea.

But I wanted to change it up a little.  It was starting to look a little dreary to me.  I texted my sisters to see what they thought I should paint it.  Rustic Red or Seahawks Blue.

So for less than $10 (I'm also cheap when it comes to projects) I painted this chair blue.

Then my friend Ganesa bought a pillow to go with it.

I have received mixed reactions but for now I will go with it and enjoy it for the football season.  I can always go back to the store and buy a different color of paint.

Darby's Scooter Tricks

Darby is getting pretty tricky on the scooter. It isn't set to the right height but that doesn't bother her one bit. She was so excited to show of her scooter tricks and I was thankful she didn't crash doing them.

1st Date Anniversary

Our first date anniversary tradition continues. This year we lucked out with some amazing weather and sat outside. I ordered Fish Tacos, again. Brad ordered oysters which he wasn't super excited about but we still enjoyed our date.

After dinner we walked to Starbucks.  On our walk we saw a friend of Brad's named John.  He coaches at Blanchet High School.  We talked to him for quite awhile and at first it seemed like a really long conversation.    He kept asking us details about our first date and finally asked Brad if he was at the Bellevue Invitational (track meet) that same day.   Brad wasn't quite sure but John recalled standing with Brad at the track meet and Brad leaving early because he was excited about a date he was going on.  It was our first date!   We were impressed he remembered and were glad he told us.

As part of our tradition our friends Cory and Jami watched the kids.  We are so thankful for them.

Lamb Day

Our friend Jeannine and her husband hosted Lamb Day again. It is actually at Jeannine's mom's house up in Snohomish. It is a fun excuse to get together to see our soccer friends. It was a gorgeous day and we had so much fun just hanging out in the sun.

Bo was SO excited about all the lambs.

Tutu

I took Darby & Ollie to a birthday party for their friend Scout. The boys had cowboy hats and the girls had these adorable tutus. I took this picture and loved the way it turned out, a little blurred on the edges.

Swinging and Laughing

I started doing this thing with Bo & Darby on the swings where I acted like they were knocking me over. Bo was laughing so hard. We showed it to daddy. Then I decided to get it on video. It is so darn cute!

Yogurt Moustache

She is such a silly girl. She comes up with all these crazy things, some influenced by her brothers, some just seem to pop into her little head. This is when she made a moustache out of yogurt.

A few more pics.

Here are a few more pictures from our wonderful time with the Welke's.

These were from Lori's camera.

Museum of Flight

Karl & Lori took Brody & Colt to the Museum of Flight. We were planning on taking all of the kids but Bo got sick that same day. They didn't have enough room in their car for more than 2. Thankfully I was able to convince Ollie that watching TV at home would be just as fun.

Brody & Colt had a great time.
Maybe I will be brave enough to take all of my kids back there some day.

Easter Morning

With our house plagued by the stomach flu we spent Easter at home. It was definitely different than most Easters but hopefully we won't have to do that again soon. We missed hanging out with our extended family.

We did an egg hunt for the kids.  Brody felt so bad he didn't want to rally for this one.

The rest of the day we spent at home.  We had a ham dinner with a few side dishes.   I was very thankful it was a nice day so we could at least be outside for part of it.

Cul-de-sac Egg Hunt

We had an egg hunt in our cul-de-sac. The rain held off so we were still able to hide the eggs outside.  (Last year we had a downpour)

The kids enjoyed every bit of it.

Brody had thrown up right before this but he was determined to do the egg hunt.  He begged and pleaded so I said he could as long as he stayed away from everyone.

This was Brody only 20 minutes after the egg hunt was over.  He is better now, thankfully.
