Hanging Out

The best part about the Welkes is just hanging out with them. 

Playing games, watching movies, hanging out in the hot tub and playing at the beach. 

 

Hay Hunt & Racing Games

Our favorite part of the Swedish Festival are the races and the hay hunt. 

The races aren't always fair but they are still fun. 

Especially if you win a ribbon and money. 

The water balloon toss if fun too, unless your balloon pops. 

Swedish Festival

On Father's Day we went to Vasa Park for the annual Swedish Festival. 

It ended up being a nice day, not too hot and not raining. 

We joined Fafa & Grammy, Uncle Brian, Aunt Angie, Abi & Andrew and found a perfect picnic table in the middle of all the action.

The dizzy bus was a favorite for Ollie, Darby & Bo. 

It was hot and stuffy for me. 

Cotton Candy

XXX Root Beer

Annika and Ryker requested a trip to XXX root beer with the Barquists. We were happy to join them. I was fearful it was going to be VERY crowded on a Friday night but much to my surprise it wasn't. It started getting a little more crowded as we were finishing up but thankfully we didn't cause too much disruption in the restaurant.  

The kids loved their root beer floats and shakes. 

More Gymnastics

Darby had her last gymnastics class for this session. We are taking a break for the summer but hope to sign her up again in the fall. She just loves it!  We were lucky to have Lori and Aksel there watching us.  

Silly String

One of the traditions for the last day of school (started by my neighbors, not me) is popsicles and silly string. 

Unfortunately Bo and Darby were both scared of the silly string.  Maybe one day they will enjoy it. 

 

Strawberry Picking

We were so lucky to have Karl & Lori and the kids come to visit us. They came on the Monday before school got out. They spent a few days exploring the city without us but then spent the next days with us and we packed in a whole lot of fun.

We went raspberry picking only to discover that the raspberries weren't very ripe...so we picked Strawberries instead. 

It was a good day for picking strawberries, not too hot and not rainy or cold.
