Christmas Eve dinner

I tested positive for COVID the Wednesday before Christmas.   Such a bummer!  I cried a lot and then I was able to reframe my expectations for our Christmas.   Angie & Shirley dropped off food for Christmas Eve because our original plan was to spend it with them.  

We had a delicious Christmas Eve dinner, although I just had some chicken noodle soup because that is all I could tolerate. 

 

Gaffigan

A few weeks ago Brad and I went to see Jim Gaffigan at the Paramount. It was a fun night out in Seattle and it was fun to go to a comedy show together.  

Sidelines

Darby went to the high school basketball game a few weeks ago and was invited to sit on the sidelines.  She had a blast. 

Winter Band Concert

Ollie had a band concert a few weeks ago.    It was fun to watch him perform....although we had to listen more than watch since he was in the back of the stage.  

Giant Gingerbread Man

We received this giant gingerbread man from the Welke family.  It was extra fun when we realized you had to smash it to see what was inside. 

Halt! Shalom.

We went to the drive thru nativity at Calvary Chapel.  It is my absolute favorite  Christmas activity.   The kids know what is going to happen every time but it is still so neat to see these people put on this show. 

Nutcracker

In 2nd grade the kids make a nutcracker as one of their class projects.  We had 4 nutcrackers so I was excited that Bo would be able to get his this year.  But then I learned that they weren't going to do them this year.  It's a bit time intensive and requires some volunteer help so the teachers decided not to do it.   I told Bo's teacher how sad it was that Bo would be the only kid without one so of course she put together a little kit so we could put it together at home.  Darby loved helping.

Decorating

After we set up the tree we put on some ornaments with some help from Ellis. 

Ellis went home after Darby & Bo got on the bus to go to school.  It was so fun having him around.

Houses

We decorated Gingerbread houses with Ellis. 

It took a little bit of patience as we had to assemble the houses but they had fun decorating it....and eating some of it. 

Christmas tree

We got our Christmas tree & Ellis came with us.  

Thankfully it was another quick trip in and out of Home Depot. 

Park time

With a 4 year old around it’s always a good reason to go to the park.    

We played and then they set up shop to sell some ice cream. 

Cookies

We also took my cousin’s boy for a few days.  It was so fun to have so much energy in our house.  Ellis is a hoot! 

The first thing we did was head over to the Mitchell's house to decorate cookies.   

Darby & Bo didn't have school because they had conferences.  

In my happy place

My cousin had a baby 4 weeks ago and I finally had the chance to meet her.  

 

I’m pretty sure you know how I’m feeling.  

Broncos Fan!

We went to Robinswood Park to meet our friends.  Ollie was dressed in his Broncos gear and a guy started talking to him.   He told him he played for the Broncos.  The guy walked away so I told Ollie we had to chase him down to take a picture with him. 

Stanley Daniels played at UW and then played for the Broncos for a few years.  

He was a super nice guy!
