Forced Family Turkey Trot

We had our own Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. Some kids were more excited about it than others.   

There is a 2 mile loop that Colt regularly runs so we decided to do that one.   The kids all did a great job but Bo was a beast out there.  He hung with Colt & Ollie the whole time and finished the 2 miles in 17:05.   That would be about an 8:35 pace for a mile.  

He was sore the next day.  

Grrr!!! Sounders!!!

Brad took Darby, Bo & Ollie to the Sounders playoff game.  I was going to go but decided last minute not to.  I'm not sure if it would have been better if I was there or not.  It was a stressful and disappointing outcome to the game.  We still love our Sounders but this was a hard one.

Contacts

Brody has been wearing glasses since he has a hard time seeing far away.  He doesn't wear them all the time but has been asking for contacts.  We finally were able to get him in to get them and I snuck this picture of him practicing.   

RV repairs

We drove 14,000 miles across the country and did not have any damage to our RV because of driving and the size of it.  Just a few weeks ago Brad was pulling it into his warehouse to have some work done and he hit the air conditioning unit on top.   Grrr!  

Thankfully the damage wasn't as bad as it could have been but it did require ordering a new cover.  It also meant that Brad had to climb up on top to put it back on.   

Coach

Brad had his cross country banquet the other night.  The kids didn't want to go so it was a little date night for the two of us.  It is fun for me to see Brad in his element and doing one of his favorite things.....talking. 

Black Scorpions

Bo had his first basketball game for the Black Scorpions.  His team was very rusty but it will be fun to watch them improve this season.   

 

Bo did a great job with 10 rebounds and at least 10 points.  Double Double! 

Seabrook

My friend Becky has been asking me to join her at Seabrook.  I was finally able to find some time to get away for a few nights.   We walked on the beach and then relaxed the rest of the time. 

Double (Triple) Date night

Last weekend we went on a double date to the Kraken game.  We went with our friends, Dan & Jen.   But then Mark & Lindsey joined us for the last period so it ended up being a triple date night.   The only bummer is the Kraken lost this game.  

The perks

One of the perks of being a substitute teacher is sometimes I get to teach my own kid.    I was in his class and he was the person of the day so he helped me with everything.

1st basketball tourney

Darby had her first basketball tournament.  It is so fun watching her play. 

Her friend Madi came to watch her play and Madi knew a few girls on the team. 

Explore Sunsets

Our school auction was last week and the theme was Explore a World of Sunsets.   Since we usually dress up to the theme I put together this fun outfit.   Brad was out of town so he couldn't join me.   It was a bummer because it would have been fun to have at least one other person dress to the theme.  Yep, I was the ONLY one.   But I had an absolute blast and left it all on the dance floor. 

Kraken again

We were driving home from Darby’s soccer when Brad was reminded that we had tickets to the Kraken game.  We had a quick turnaround and Colt & Darby wanted to go to the game.  Brody was feeling a little tired that evening so he opted out and since it was very last minute I was able to go too.  

The Kraken finished with a victory.

XC Banquet

We went to Brody’s cross country banquet.  It was a little strange being a spectator and not being involved with the behind the scenes.  We really didn't know what to expect.  There were different awards given out, including squad awards.  There were also two awards voted on by the runners, Most Improved and Most Inspirational.   

To our great surprise, Brody was voted "Most Improved" by his teammates.   As you can see in this picture he had over a 4 minute improvement from the beginning of the season.   It is quite impressive but the thing that makes us happier is the recognition he gets from his teammates. We are so proud of him.

Trick-or-treat

Brad and I walked with Darby and Bo and our neighbors.  The older boys went off with their friends.  Brad got the most alcoholic drinks he has ever had on Halloween night and we loved seeing friends and neighbors and talking with them.   

 

Brad also loved this giant skeleton. 

 

We have LOTS of candy now! 

Halloween

It was so fun to celebrate Halloween.  I’m glad my kids are still into it and we even squeaked out with another year of Brody participating.   

 

We had a musician, a pair of Aces, a pumpkin head (not pictured) and a janitor?   

 

And we can't forget the two headed alien/man and the skier (or the costume that would keep me the warmest) 

 

Pumpkin Carving

Just in the nick of time we carved our pumpkins.  I wanted to do it outside and we finally had a day it wasn't dumping rain so we carved them the night before Halloween.
