Memorial Day Weekend

We were invited to go to our neighbor's cabin over Memorial Day Weekend. It is in Lakebay on the Peninsula. I drove down with the kids on Saturday morning since Brad was at the state track meet. 

The weather was beautiful and we took full advantage of it.  It was a really low/high tide so the kids played on the sandy/rocky beach.  They found crabs, built sandcastles and kept exploring.  

On Sunday we did more of the same but also took the Kayak out and cruised around on paddleboards.  

We got a good dose of sun and had a great time!   

We also discovered a few favorite board games for the weekend.

Alki Field Trip

Last Friday I had the opportunity to go on a field trip with Ollie's class. I love this field trip and I have been able to go with each kid so far. I hope that continues. We had a beautiful day which makes it perfect by the beach because it has a nice little breeze that doesn't make it too hot. 

I had a group of 4 boys and they were great!  I had absolutely no complaints about any of them.  I think they all had a great time. 

 

Life Group

We had our last life group of the year. Although we will probably have a few more random gatherings this summer. Hopefully at our house a few times.  It has been fun having this group of people to hang out with and to get to know a little better.  

The best part is the kids play so well together so we don't even need a babysitter for all 19 of them. 

Fidget Spinners

We are in the Fidget Spinner business. It all started a few weeks ago when Brody was asking to buy a fidget spinner. We didn't quite know what it was so Brad was looking at them on Amazon. It was going to take 3 weeks to get them. That is when Brad's brain started turning.  He thought he could order them directly from the manufacturer and then we could sell some.  

We put in an order for 100 and got them in 5 days.  We posted a message on our neighborhood facebook page and we were sold out by the time the weekend was over. 

So Brad ordered more....a lot more. 

This shipment took a lot longer and we were all getting anxious (even some of our customers). 

They finally arrived and Brody wrote out another note for us to post on our neighbhorhood facebook page.  We promised delivery and we had a ton of people requesting them.  It was great!  (But also time consuming....which was a great thing for the kids to experience). 

Then last week after all the sports games I told myself I would mow the lawn because I wanted to accomplish at least something for the day.  When I came from the back yard the kids were gone.   

They had gone down to the end of the street and set up their own fidget spinner stand.   

In 2 hours we sold 20!  

They sold them again the next day for about 4 hours and sold about the same amount.  

We still have a lot left but we also have kids riding bikes to our house so they can buy more.  It really has been so funny watching this craziness unfold.  But more importantly its been so fun to watch the kids work hard and see the rewards they get from their work.

CEO of Nordstrom

Brody went on an awesome field trip to Biztown. I was lucky enough to be a chaperone (thanks to my parents for watching Darby & Bo and a few friends for watching them while I went to a training).  They did a lot of work in class preparing for this.   Brody even had to interview for his job.  He was picked as the CEO of Nordstrom. 

He had a blast and it was so fun watching him and his classmates run the town.  

They went "on air" to talk about Nordstrom. 

Brody had to give a quick speech at the town meeting.  He told them all about the products they were selling. 

We had a chance to eat lunch together and be a little silly too. 

I checked in with Brody a few times and he said he was a little stressed because he had lots of paperwork he needed to do.  He even had to eat a very quick lunch. 

I took this video but my phone ran out of storage. (yep, just like the commercial)

Thankfully I erased some pictures and messages and was able to get this video of his "on air" presentation. 

It was such a fun field trip and I'm looking forward to going 4 more times! 

Floating

A quick video of Bo at swimming lessons. I have more coming soon. It's fun to watch his fearless attitude in the water. He still thinks he can swim. 

Most Improved

Ollie had his last soccer game of the spring season. They had a little party at Pizza Hut and Ollie received the "Most Improved" Award. I don't think he improved much over the season but since this coach has been with him for a few seasons he saw a lot of improvement from last fall to this spring season. It is always so fun seeing all the kids learn and grow in different way and at different paces. 

Ollie even had a hat trick in one of his games. 

 

My Crazy Crew

For Mother's Day I had a few small requests. 1. A few hours alone in a coffee shop. 2. Get to church on time. 3. Do something active (family hike, go to the gym etc.). I also requested to have the house clean but wouldn't be too upset if it wasn't spotless. 

I got all those requests by 1:00.  The house was even (mostly) cleaned up.  

And my last request for the day was a picture with my crazy crew. 

I love all of them so much and I'm so thankful I get to be their mom (and wife). 

 

May birthdays

We celebrated Mother's Day and a few May birthdays at the same time. It was a good excuse to have some cake and ice cream. Here is a very dark picture of the grandkids and Grammy & Fafa. 

A Big Doll House

We went to the Run to Win Auction a few weeks ago and ended up with a doll house for Darby. It's just a tad bit bigger than her, and her brothers and me.  I think Brad is about the same height. 

This doll house came fully furnished and is absolutely adorable.  

Darby loves it! 

Big Beautiful Planet

Ollie had his 1st grade concert the other night. The theme was Big Beautiful Planet. This was the same theme for Brody & Colt.  This means everytime Ollie starts singing his songs we all can sing along.  We have heard them a time or two. 

Ollie was great and even had a speaking role.  

On Tuesday

Sometimes, out of the blue, my kids will say something like this. 

Yes, Bo, maybe on Tuesday.
