Xc buddies

The last meet for Ollie & Colt was very rainy.   Ollie's race started in the dumping rain and thankfully it let up for Colt's race but the course was muddy.  These are a few pictures from Ollie's race and some of his friends.

Race report

The first leg of our relay started at 5:05.  It was dark.   

I was the 2nd leg so Shea handed me the slap bracelet and I was off for my 4.54 mile run in the dark.  Since it was cloudy, we had no stars or moon to give us even a little bit of light.  But I survived my first leg.   After my race I stretched, drank water and then had to make myself eat some food so I could refuel and get ready for my next leg. 

  

We thought this was fun to put on our van.....we were all champs since no one raced in 2020.  

  

 

My 2nd leg was a mostly flat 5 mile run.  I had the easiest legs and I am thankful because my training wasn't that great.

 

Our final runner finished around 6:15.  We were far from the fastest group but we definitely had a fun time and we all survived.

To the beach

Last week I headed out to Pacific Beach to participate in a the Hood to Coast Washington Relay.  It has been canceled the last two Junes and they rescheduled it for October.  I was thankful to have a weekend away. 

I rode in the car with Renee and we were minutes behind two accidents, one of which was this car fire.  It was a good reminder about how precious life is and we were thankful we weren't in either of the accidents.

We stopped for lunch in Olympia where we met up with the rest of  the crew.   Then we got to our house and went for a beach walk.

Middle Kids

Last weekend Brad and I went clubbin'!   

 We went to a bar on Broadway to watch the band Middle Kids play.   Hannah is the lead singer and she is the daughter of the family I lived with in Australia.  (I went to this concert a few years ago when she was on tour).  It was fun to have Brad come with me this time so he could see just the talent of this band.   We had so much fun!

Do you know we pretty much forced Ollie to run cross country?    He didn't want to participate because the idea of pushing his body and working hard isn't really his favorite.   We knew he would love it, mostly for the social part.  And you know, sometimes parents are right.   

Ollie LOVES cross country!  He has a bunch of friends that he gets to see and hang out with every day.  He wants to stay until the very end of every single meet and he even was looking for his social studies teacher so he could say hi to her.  

But the bonus of this season, is now Ollie really wants to work hard and is putting in a lot of effort to run fast.  He has been improving every single day and it is a joy to watch. 

His friend's mom took these great pictures of him at the finish....and he barely edged out this kid at the finish line.

Running

Colt and Ollie had a cross country meet against PCMS (which is the school Brody went to and Colt did his virtual 6th grade year).  It was a beautiful day and they both ran great.  It is such a joy to watch them run.
