Online Learning

This last week was our official first week of online learning, where things are turned in and graded. The teachers have been working REALLY hard and I can't even begin to think about all the emotions they are going through.  We are so thankful for all of them.

Here are a few snapshots of what it looks like.

Survivor Challenge #3

Another Survivor Challenge and this might be #4 and not #3. I can't keep track of anything these days.

The kids had to run around the house kicking a soccer ball.

Then they had to take a scoop of water and make the cup tip over.

The final obstacle was to throw the washoes into the holes.

Brody won this one too.

Survivor Memory Challenge

I didn't get any pictures of this challenge because I was too busy getting it ready. I printed out one picture for each kid and then they were spread around the yard. After they collected all the characters they had to go look at the list (which was on the other side of the house) and come back and put them in order. The first one to finish was the winner. It was so fun watching them race back to look at the pattern and then race back to try and figure it out.

 Brody was the winner.
(We do try to stagger the starts etc. to make it as even as possible...
or at least what we think will be even).

Tribal Council #2

With every challenge there has to be a tribal council.

But I never like seeing people voted off.

Survivor Challenge #2

We had our 2nd Survivor challenge and Brad came up with this one. Since we didn't have enough space/equipment for everyone to do it at the same time each kid did the challenge individually and we timed it.

The first task was to run around the house.

Then they had to run up the hill in our backyard.

Once they got to the top they had to untie the knots for this backpack.  Then, they grabbed the backpack and raced back down the hill to the cornhole game.

The last task was to get all 4 beanbags in the hole.

It was fun watching them work so hard during all aspects of the challenge.

Brody ended up winning this one.

1st Date Anniversary

We celebrated our 1st date anniversary but this year was a little different. Duke's is temporarily closed. They don't even have take out.

We decided if we couldn't eat there we would still go there.  So, we forced the kids to come with us for an outing.  On the drive over we told the kids the story about how we met and our first date.

We drove by Brad's old apartment and we saw this sign.  We thought it was funny because we would still be on that street if we drove like Apolo lived there.

We got out of the car and Darby & Ollie took our picture.

Ollie really wanted to get a picture of us "holding" the sign up.  So, we obliged.

I love Duke's and our fun anniversary.   We can't wait to go back when they open up.

Survivor Challenge #1

We have enjoyed watching this season of Survivor.  Of course this creates all sorts of ideas in the minds of our kids so they decided they wanted to have their own Survivor with a tribal council.

Our first challenge was to see how long you could hold a cup of water on your head.  After a few minutes they had to stand with one foot. Then we added more water to the cup.

Brody was the winner.

Colt ended up being voted out.

Easter 2020 Family Pictures

I actually put on an "Easter outfit" but ended up changing before the day was over. I also made my family take an Easter family picture. So here it is.

Easter Morning

It was a different Easter for everyone this year.

I started my morning by heading down to the lake to read my bible, pray and watch the sunrise.

There was another couple there doing the same thing and we prayed together.  I cried.  What else is new?   But it was a beautiful way to start the day.

After breakfast and "church" we had an Easter Egg hunt.  The older 3 hid eggs in the front for Bo & Darby.  Then Bo & Darby hid eggs in the back for the older 3.

It was a good egg hunt as we were looking for all the eggs for quite some time.  Thankfully they have all been found.

Easter Cookies

I ordered some Easter Cookies from Paisley Parlour. (It's an adorable tea shop in Gilman Village). The order was actually a cookie decorating kit with frosting and sprinkles. The kids loved decorating them but had more fun eating them.
