Birthday Presents

Brad turned 50 last saturday. We started the morning with donuts and coffee. Then the day got so busy that we had to do presents the next day.

Staycation - Frozen Yogurt

Some of our other activities for our staycation included "electronic time", quick walks to Meerwood Park, and playdates with friends. But the best part of our staycation were the two nights we went skiing.   I don't have any pictures from those nights.

I took the kids to the library where we loaded up on some books.  Then we went across the street for some frozen yogurt.

They always have a kids movie on at this place so its actually mostly relaxing for me.

I also counted this as their lunch.  :)

Staycation - Whale Park

The kids had the week off of school for mid-winter break. We usually make plans to go somewhere but this year we stayed home. Mostly because Brad and I just got back from our trip and we had to get ready for Brad's 50th Birthday party.

Before 9:00 on Monday morning we had two kids that had to spend time in their bedroom.  They will remain nameless.

I knew we had to get outside since it was so sunny.  But it was cold.  We decided on the whale park.

The kids had a ton of fun especially playing tag with each other.

After the park we went to Subway and then visited Brad at work.

Wild Hair, Don't Care

While we were in Florida my mom sent me these pictures of Ollie. His hair has gotten so long.

I'm happy to report he finally got it cut.

Pina Colada

Brad had his vendor showcase on Friday morning too. After the showcase was over we had to check out of our room but then we spent a few hours by the pool before we had to head to the airport.

It was such a warm, sunny trip!

But by the end we were missing our kids.

Water Slides & Pool Time

Our 2nd night in Orlando we moved to a different hotel. This is where the convention was. It was a beautiful hotel and it had an awesome pool with some fun water slides.

Jenny lives about an hour away and Jessi is about a three hour drive.  She drove to Jenny's house and then the drove up with their kids.  We spent the day hanging out by the pool until I had to help Brad with his vendor showcase.

It was fun playing with nephews and niece but it made me wish my kids were there too.  Maybe next time.

George and I just finished going down these waterslides.  I think he won.

Warm & Sunny

Brad had a convention for work and I got to tag along with him. Thankfully both sets of grandparents were willing to manage the house while we were gone. The convention was in Florida about the furthest distance from Seattle, which makes for a very long flight.

I was looking forward to uninterrupted time to read a book.  The good news is I mostly finished the book.  The bad news is Brad and I weren't sitting next to each other.  Instead I sat between a couple, one of which was a man who was snoring and stinky.  Needless to say I was so happy to have the flight over with.

We checked into our hotel then went to Bahama Breeze for dinner.

My door

I forgot the picture of my door. So nicely decorated for my 40th birthday!

Birthday Snowshoe

Last year I organized a snowshoe adventure with some of my girlfriends. It happened to be around my birthday so I declared, a year ago, that I would do it again on my 40th!  And we did.

There were a lot of dear friends who couldn't make it but it was still a wonderful group of ladies.  I am so blessed to call them my friends.

Getting ready.

Lindsey, Abby, Melissa, Me, Rachael, Erin and Diana
Heather (was taking the picture)

They even had a birthday treat for me half way through our trek.

Diana lives at the pass and she opened her home to us.  It was wonderful!

Peter Rabbit

After our birthday celebration we went to Andrew's birthday party. It was a busy day. Thankfully this birthday party included a movie. We saw Peter Rabbit and somehow I did not fall asleep. It was a cute one.

Red Robin

I am so thankful we were able to celebrate my mom's birthday too. We met the day before our birthdays after basketball games. Red Robin was the winner. (My mom loves a free burger...and I do too).  We haven't been here in a very long time so the kids all enjoyed it.

Boot Camp Birthday

My sweet boot camp friends had a little pre-birthday celebration. It wasn't much but it was enough to make me feel loved. And that's all you really need for your birthday.

I usually lead the workout but they took over for the day.  (It was nice to get a little break from it).  Then they ended with a morning muffin complete with a birthday candle.

What a great way to start off my birthday weekend!

(There were only 4 ladies this morning but we usually have a few more).

Sing me a Song

Ollie had his 2nd grade concert this past week called "Sing me a Song". It's always fun watching the kids perform. They do a fabulous job. And since they are on the shorter side they always end up near the front row....if not in the front row.

Black Wolves

Colt has had three basketball games now. He is playing on the Black Wolves (even though their jerseys are blue). Brad is coaching this team too.

It's a joy to watch him play.  Especially all his facial expressions.

Black Bombers

Brody had another great season of Black Bombers basketball. Brad coached again.  They didn't win all their games but they played some well coached basketball.

We LOVE watching Brody play.  He is such a hard worker.

End of year celebration.

This girl

Darby took my phone again. She likes to type on it. And I guess she also likes to take pictures and videos too.  Silly girl.

Date #5 - Skiing

I arranged for playdates for all the kids so we could make it out on our fifth date of January.  We went up to the pass to ski together.  It was wonderful and Brad was incredibly patient.   I'm very rusty and have never been a great skier so it took me awhile to get used to it again.  We were able to get some runs in before my legs got too tired.

I'm so thankful we had this afternoon together.

And especially thankful that my kids have friends and their parents are willing to let them come over for an extended period of time.
