Colt dressing himself

I was trying to get Colt ready to go outside to play. This involved putting on his shorts and his sandals. I had to get Ollie situated first, so I left Colt on the stairs. After putting Ollie in the stroller I turned around to see that Colt had put his shorts on all by himself. This is the first time he has done this. I was so proud. Of course, he didn't do it perfectly because he put both of his legs into the same leg on the shorts and he didn't quite pull the shorts up all the way. I can't expect perfection, yet.

You can kind of see what he did in this picture but it isn't very clear. I tried to get a picture of him but he kept running around. I figured it was better to fix the shorts so he wouldn't trip.

6 years & 3 babies

Happy Anniversary!  Today marks our 6th year anniversary.  It is hard to believe that we have been married that long AND that we have 3 wonderful little boys.  We are so blessed!

Most of our anniversary celebrations have been spent up in Canada on our fishing trip.  This year we were able to celebrate our anniversary with a date night in town.

This is us at Chipotle.  (It wasn't very fancy but we had a gift card that we wanted to use).  After dinner we went to a movie and then had a fun time hanging out at Starbucks (without any pressure to get back home).

Thank you to our babysitters for watching  our boys.  And thank you to my Grandma who sent us a little spending money to celebrate.

(I wanted to post one of our wedding pictures but I might have to do that later)

Train Conductor

A few months ago my friend gave me a few boy clothes. In this assortment were these overalls and the train conductor hat. (they look like they match but they really don't).

The other day Brody rediscovered the hat and then wanted to wear the overalls. They are just so stinkin' cute I had to take a picture and a video too!

He starts talking jibberish at the end of the video.

New Trick - Chair Jumping

One of Brody's traits is that he is pretty cautious. He is not one of those boys that climbs on everything or tries to do new tricks all the time. I'm thankful because the things he does do I still worry about.

The other day he decided to show me this new trick out on our back deck. He was so proud of himself.

Even though he is cautious it is a reminder that he is growing up and learning more about this world (and it makes me a little sad).

Dairy Queen Treat

On our way back from Fort Flagler we drove to my parents house so we could pick up Sean. He stayed the night Wednesday and Thursday night. Have I mentioned that I love him and he is such a great help?

I had to run some unexpected errands on Thursday and all the boys did a great job coming along with me. I mentioned the idea of going to Dairy Queen for lunch (I originally thought I would need to stop somewhere for a lunch break but it ended up that we could have easily had lunch at home). When Sean asked if we were still going to Dairy Queen I couldn't turn his request down...so off we went to enjoy a special lunch treat at Dairy Queen.

Brody & Sean.   It looks like neither one of them can see with Brody's eyes closed and Sean's hair in the way.

Colt loving his ice cream.

Brody with his ice cream.

Sean and his M&M blizzard.

There isn't a picture of me but I got a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and chocolate chip cookie dough blizzard (I didn't know you could combine flavors until a month ago).  YUMMY!  (although I had a little tummy ache later in the day)

It's always a wild card when you go out to eat with 3 little ones, but with Sean there to help it all went very smoothly.  It did help that Ollie slept the whole time.

Day Trip to Fort Flagler

Last week Brad was at his cross country camp that he puts on for high school runners. I survived my week as a "single mom" thanks in part to my wonderful neighbors who had me over for dinner twice, my sister who let us crash at her place and my nephew who came to lend a helping hand.

On Tuesday we went to Jessie's house and spent the night there. Ollie slept in the pack n play and Brody, Colt and I had a campout on the floor.

On Wednesday morning we drove up to Fort Flagler to visit Brad. Justin, Jessie and Gunner decided to join us (since Justin was on vacation). We had a fun time and enjoyed some time at the beach (which is the only time I took some pictures).

Ollie taking a snooze.

Brody building something at the beach.
Gunner and Colt throwing rocks.  They could have done this all day but the overprotective mothers were very nervous that one of them was going to get hit with a rock.

A cute family picture of Justin, Jessie & Gunner.

Yes, I was there and yes we did visit Brad (we just don't have any pictures of either one of us).

Mr. Lamby's Birthday

Soon after we celebrated Gunner's birthday Brody declared that it was Mr. Lamby's birthday. He did not get this out of his imaginative mind so I decided to make the most of it and put a little plan together to help celebrate. (I knew I needed to when I put Brody to bed and he was upset because we didn't celebrate Mr. Lamby's birthday) The next day we made mini cupcakes, blew up some balloons and put up some streamers. I also wrapped up a present (Brody's little computer) for Mr. Lamby to open.

Since this was such a last minute party we didn't send out formal invitations. We were lucky enough to have our neighbors over for an impromptu barbecue and they were more than happy to help us celebrate.

Mr. Lamby is getting ready to blow out his candle.  (Just so you know Mr. Lamby is 4 months old - apparently 4 months in lamb years is 3 years in human years.  Ollie was also 4 months at the time)

We almost forgot about opening the present but were able to open it right before bedtime.

I just love how Brody is helping Mr. Lamby open the present.

A video of all of us singing Happy Birthday.  You can hear the chuckles in the background.  Our neighbors thought it was pretty funny to celebrate Mr. Lamby's birthday.

We had to sing one more time to Mr. Lamby.

We are a little anxious to see when Mr. Lamby's next birthday celebration is...or when another one of Brody's animal friends has a birthday.
