Morning walk

Colt decided to join me for a morning walk.  He wore his slides so he wasn’t too serious about walking very far.    Walking near the Baldands is pretty amazing.

Fajitas in the Badlands

Since we stayed 2 nights in the Badlands we decided to cook up some Fajitas.  Well, I did the prepping and Brad did the grilling.   Not a bad view for Fajitas.

Door Trail

After our first two trails we went back to the RV to have some lunch.  Brad was done hiking and was anxious about getting some work done.    I wanted to do some more exploring since I am in love with this place.   I took the kids to check out the door trail.  They climbed the rocks and it took us forever to even get to the start of the trail.  When we finally did we walked down the short path to see the "other side of the moon".  This place was AMAZING!    The pictures don't even compare to how cool this area was.  The kids could explore in and out of all the rock formations and we even played a few games of hide and seek.

After a little time we went back to tell Brad he had to check out this area.

When he came back with us they played another game of hide and seek.  While Brad was hiding he found a snake.  At first we thought it might be a rattlesnake but on closer inspection we learned that it wasn't.   Phew!

I can't wait to come back here.

Notch trail

After the very short Window Trail we decided to try out the Notch Trail.  The signs warned of rough terrain and a ladder you had to climb.  Colt was especially ready for the challenge.    There were a few ledges that made this mom a little scared but we managed them quite well.

Climbing the ladder was much easier and faster going up but a little more challenging coming down.

Parallel parking

Brad has gotten very good at driving the RV.  He is almost a little too confident.

When we pulled up to the parking lot at the Badlands there was a spot between two other RVs.   Brad didn’t even think twice about it.  He pulled up and parallel parked MARV on the very first try.   If you see him you will have to ask him about it.  He is very proud and he should be after 3 months of driving.

Badlands

We made it to the Badlands.   From a few people I have talked to when I mentioned a trip through South Dakota they have said Mt. Rushmore is good but the Badlands is amazing.  So I put it on our list of places to stop.   We are planning two nights here with one full day of exploring.

Wall Drug

If you have ever driven on i90 near South Dakota you have certainly seen the signs for Wall Drug. They are never ending.   We had also heard that this was a must stop mostly because you can stock up on souvenirs.     Even though it was a little bit out of our way I suggested to Brad that we stop there before we went to the Badlands because I didn't want to spend time there on our way to our next destination.

We stopped by and it was another example of my hell on earth.    After about 20 minutes Brad told me he was burned out and just wanted to leave.  So we left there without buying anything but Brad promised that we would stop by again on our way out of the Badlands.  I think I will stay in the RV.
