Birthday Bowling

I know a lot of people don't like getting older, but so far its been great for me.  I especially love being able to celebrate my birthday with my family.   Brad was able to take the day off of work to help celebrate.  What a wonderful husband!

I was looking forward to running with my friend, Andrea, in the morning but she had to cancel at the last minute.  So I went for a run by myself.  It wasn't nearly as enjoyable as running with her but I still felt great about going.

After my run we went to Starbucks for a special birthday treat and beverage.  It was the same Starbucks as the one we went to with my friend so the boys were able to read books while we were there.  In fact Brody walked right up to a lady and practically sat in her lap while she was reading a book to her granddaughter.  She was so sweet and went right along with it.

After our Starbucks we went bowling.  This is the first time we have gone bowling as a family and it has been a very long time since Brad and I have gone.

We had to use this ramp to help the boys get the ball down the lane.  One time Brody didn't want to use it so he started walking down the lane.  He took a few steps and fell on his back end.  He cried but I think he was more embarrassed by it then he was hurt.  He definitely learned that he can't go past the line.

Had to get a picture of our bowling shoes.

As per usual, Ollie was as happy as could be.

Family Picture - The nice lady who took it for us didn't get a very close picture of us...oh well.

After bowling we spent a little bit of time in the game room.  They had lots of quarter games but they were really a little too old for the boys.

Starbucks Birthday

My friend Jamie treated me and the boys to a Starbucks date for my birthday.  It was fun to briefly catch up with her and see her adorable girls.  Our kids were getting restless so we didn't get to spend nearly as much time together as we wanted to.  We were happy they had a little kids section there to entertain them for a little while.

Thank you Jamie for thinking of me and helping me celebrate my special day!

11 months

It's been a busy week but I managed to snap a few pictures of Ollie on his 11 month birthday.

You have to love the drool all over the shirt.

He needs a hair cut soon.

It was hard to get him to sit still so I tried taking a few videos of him in action.  I was also trying to get him to say some of his words.  He can say "momma, daddy, cracker, doggy" and maybe a few others that are still a little unclear.

I love the little sounds he is making in this video.

Lamby & Wado's Birthday

I was wrapping a present for a friend of mine and of course I had my helpers.  They also wanted to wrap some of their toys.  During this process Brody declared that it was Mr. Lamby's birthday.  I responded with "Great, maybe we can make cupcakes for him."   We never did make cupcakes that day, but the next day Brody woke up and was disappointed because it was Mr. Lamby's birthday and we forgot to make cupcakes for him.   I assured him that we would make cupcakes after he got home from preschool.

*For those that have been following this blog for awhile may recall that we had another birthday celebration for Mr. Lamby.  We did...in August.  Apparently Mr. Lamby has a birthday more than once a year.

The difference between August and now is that Colt is talking a lot more.  When we said we were having a party for Mr. Lamby he told us (in Colt's cute little words) that it was Wado's birthday too.

We made a sign.  (I wrote the words and Brody decorated)

(Wado is the little "blankie" that Colt sleeps with.  He is actually a little pooh bear but a few months ago Colt was insistent that he was Wado and so the name has stuck)

Brody also wanted to invite his friends (which was all of our neighbors).  So we made some invitations and delivered them.  It was a great excuse to have our neighbors over for a very casual (low pressure) event.  And they all got a kick out of singing happy birthday to Lamby and Wado.

I know I have started something...but it really is easy to quickly make cupcakes and paint a sign (craft project).  I guess I just might have to make sure we don't have too many of these in one year.  It could get out of control.

But (as you will soon read...if you regularly follow this blog) this is only the beginning of our birthday season.

Books for Ollie

We were upstairs about to get ready for bed when I saw that Brody was getting books off the shelf.  He told me he was getting books for Ollie.  He found ones that he thought Ollie would like.  Apparently Ollie didn't have the patience to wait for the books.

Night Trains

Brad thought it would be a great idea to have night trains.  He got out his headlamp and his flashlight for the boys to use.  I took a picture but it didn't show how dark it was since I had the flash on.

So then I attempted to take a few pictures in the dark.

The boys had a blast!

Ultimate Train Track

We had another unscheduled weekend.  "Uncle" Eugene came over and helped build the ultimate train track.  They used up almost every single train track piece.  We have had to keep it out for a few days to get the most out of the Ultimate Train Track.
