Pumpkin Carving

We saved pumpkin carving until the very last minute. Bo helped me pick out 3 pumpkins and then later I went and bought the rest by myself. I left them on the kitchen table and let them carve when it worked for them. Only 3 pumpkins were carved but that was more than I thought we would end up with.

 

Witch's Paddle

Last year my friend organized a Witch's paddle but I couldn't make it because of the kid's activities. This year I asked her about it and she told me to send her a time that worked with our schedule. I am so thankful because I really wanted to go last year and I was envious of those that were able to go. 

 

It was a beautiful afternoon, a little cold and a tad bit windy but nice and sunny. 

 

I had the BEST time and hope I can make it work every Halloween season. 

 

Ice Cream Basketball Treat

 A little treat after their first basketball game with Issaquah Select basketball. 

Spooky Spaghetti

 We had Spooky Spaghetti at Sunset.  It's total chaos but the kids love it!   Usually Brad joins the dads in preparing the food and cleaning up but he had to take Darby to a basketball game.  I don't think he was terribly sad about missing. 

I recycled my Jessie costume from last year since I couldn't figure out what I wanted to wear.  

We picked up Rachael and Dane (spiderman) so we could carpool together.

Cross Country Finals

Ollie and Darby had their middle school cross country finals a week and a half ago. Thankfully it was a beautiful day for a race.  Darby's race was first and she did great with a 4th place finish but not too far behind 2nd and 3rd.  

 

She even had some special fans cheering her on.

Ollie's race was up next.   He felt great during the whole race and ended up 22nd right behind his good friend and teammate.  

Aaron & Ollie.  This is one of his friends and they have been close to each other every race.

Defy

Bo had the choice between a birthday party with a lot of friends or a fun adventure with one or two friends. He decided on going to the trampoline park with his friend Finn. So I made plans to get him out of school a little early and head down there. But in the mean time Colt and some of his friends were planning to go to the same place around the same time. (This was a weird day for their school because they didn't really have any classes due to PSAT testing) So I ended up driving Colt and a few of his friends down there too.  Everyone had fun and it is always a great way to burn off energy. 

 

Neuroscience

Brody's Psychology class had a field trip to the UW neuroscience department. They needed chaperones and I asked Brody if it would be ok if I came. He didn't hesitate much and said it would be good if I came. I know this doesn't happen all the time so I am so thankful I was able to go and was also wanted. 

 

The students listened to a lecture by a neuroscience professor and then they participated in some different experiments that explored how our brain perceives different things.  

 

This was a table with different brains from different animals. 

This was a reaction experiment that Brody actually did for a science fair back in 3rd or 4th grade.  I didn't get a picture of Brody doing it but took this one. 

After the lecture we went on a tour of the campus.   Brody enjoyed seeing all the things.

This was by far the easiest field trip I have ever chaperoned.   The students were all so great!
