Mom of the Year Points

I've been working hard to earn my points for Mom of the Year. But I keep failing. One example was when I neglected to do any back to school shopping. I asked Brody if his shoes were too small. He said "no, they still fit." I didn't bother. The 2nd day of school he came home and said his pinky toes were hurting him. So I checked to see where his toes were, right up to the very edge of the shoe.

The other example happened just a few nights ago.  Darby was walking around with a hat on her head.  And since she likes to do everything her brothers do she put it over her eyes and started walking.   I told her to take it off her eyes and she didn't.  She seemed to be navigating quite well so I thought she could see.  Well, apparently she didn't see because she ran smack into our window seat and did quite a number on her four front teeth.  (thankfully Brad was home to deal with the blood).

The next morning I called the dentist and he recommended I bring her in.  My neighbor was already scheduled to watch the 3 kids to give me a break.  But now with an appointment my "break" was spent driving to and from the dentist's office.

As soon as I got to the dentist I opened the door to have Darby throw up all of her breakfast.   Since this is my 4th child and time is a little more precious I was not about to turn around or reschedule my appointment.   I knew it was just car sickness and a tummy full of yogurt that was the trigger.   So I cleaned her up and went to put on the change of clothes only to discover all I had in the backpack was a pair of Ollie's shorts.

We walked into the office, my cute little "pink" girl, with no shirt and boy shorts on.  You should have seen the look on their faces when I said "she just threw up that is why she has no clothes."   Thankfully they know me well enough.   Just not sure about getting any points for  "Mom of the Year."

I'm happy to report Darby's teeth appear to be ok.  She still has lots of bruising around her gums but seems to be chewing on things normally.   I'm also happy to report that she returned home and put on her own clothes.

Helmet

Darby tries her best to keep up with her brothers. Sometimes this isn't good for me, other times it makes things easy. She is always eager to put her helmet on. Her attention span is so short that she barely needs it for any "bike riding".  But she sure looks adorable with it on.

Lucky Boy

Brody came in to show me the four leaf clover he found. I don't think I have ever found one in my life. He is a lucky boy. Or so I thought until he brought me 3 more and Colt brought me 4.  They found them in our neighbor's yard.   Our neighbors were the lucky ones, or maybe they aren't anymore.

Wild West Picnic

Colt & Ollie had a Wild West Picnic at their preschool.  It was fun to actually use their dress up clothes for this day.

We found Ollie Cowboy.

You can barely see the Colt cowboy in this picture.

A few blurry pictures.  Colt & Ollie working on a sticker project.

Below:  Sitting for circle time.

It will be fun to see how they both grow this year and how they do in the same school.

Sounders with Dad

Brad was trying to figure out what to do about going to the Sounders game. He decided he would take Brody. Then a friend of his offered him 3 club level tickets so Brad took Brody & Colt and gave his tickets to a friend.

The boys had a blast and the Sounders won 2 - 1.

They were super tired the next day.

They were fascinated by the train so Brad got a picture of them.

They also liked this picture of Ichiro.

Labor Day Weekend

We went down to Central Oregon for our annual Labor Day Weekend family reunion. (Brad's family) We camped at the Ranger Station and Ollie keeps asking when we are going back.

My camera was not being very cooperative and I wasn't being very diligent about taking pictures.  Here are the few I took.

Playing Washoes

Playing Bingo

Uncle Mark made a little fort for Ollie.  He loved it!

A picture with Nanny.
(Andrew is missing in this picture)

There were a lot of other people taking pictures so I'm hoping to get them soon.

1st day of 1st Grade

Brody had his first day of 1st grade. We met his teacher the day before and he was excited to go to school.  He also knew a few people from his class last year so that helped.

Brody & Ollie

We tried to get one with Darby but she didn't cooperate that well.

Colt was getting his shoes on and had to meet us at the bus stop (we didn't want to be late for the first day).  We did get one picture with all 4 of the kids.

Waiting with our friends.

It will be an adjustment for all of us with Brody being gone all day.  But I know he is going to have a great year!
