Hidden Lake Trail

Our first day in Glacier was a big learning curve for us. It was SO crowded but we also had very limited access in our RV. It was probably the most disappointing thing about our trip but in all our travels we have learned to come up with alternative plans and we are good about rolling with it. We were able to use the park shuttles but it was a long wait. We originally were going to go to Avalanche Lake but when we were about to get on they said we would have to wait for the next bus and we were just tired of waiting, so we got on the shuttle that was immediately available and went to Logan's Pass. I'm so glad we stumbled into this decision because it was amazing. You drive along the Going to the Sun road which prohibits vehicles longer than 21 feet.  But the views were amazing.

Once we got to the top we hiked to Hidden Lake.  It was a very busy but beautiful hike.  The only problem with this was I did not pack a lunch and we quickly went through all the snacks in my backpack so we opted to not hike all the way down to the lake.  Maybe next time.

We saw a mountain goat along the trail and Bo took his selfie with the goat.

We also learned that we missed seeing the mama bear and her cub by about 15 minutes.

It was a great first day in the park!

Flathead Lake

Our 2nd day of driving was VERY long. The drive was beautiful but that can only help a 6 hour drive so much. We randomly stopped at a park on Flathead Lake.  The kids and Brad jumped in to cool off and actually had a fun time creating an island of rocks under the water.   It was a great break from the driving and we eventually made it our RV spot in West Glacier.

On the road again....

We planned a road trip for the summer and this time we headed to Glacier National Park. Our plan was to stop in Coeur D'Alene the first night which was about the half way point of a long drive. But a little over an hour into our drive we blew out a tire. We were just outside of Cle Elum so I quickly called Uncle Jason who miraculously answered his phone.  I asked if he was able to pick us up....at least get the kids to  a safer spot than the side of I-90.  (We were only one mile from a rest stop).  Thankfully he was able to leave work and took the rest of the day off.  He picked up all of us but Brody and Brad and took us to Ellensburg.  We had lunch, went thrifting and then went to the River.   While we were doing Brad was coordinating the purchase of new tires and also getting a hose fixed that had been damaged.

In the end we were able to get back on the road for another hour but ended up spending the night in Moses Lake.   We were thankful for our time with Uncle Jason because we don't see him very often.

PGF Tournament

While Ollie was in California, Darby was in Portland playing softball. We sent her with some teammates because I was with Ollie and Brad couldn't miss any more work.  After starting 0-4 her team ended up in the Silver Bracket and won the championship.  Darby had a great tournament including a home run.

We are sad to see this team dissolve after this season.  It has been a very fun season for us.

Silver Lakes Showcase

Ollie had a soccer tournament in California. It was a fun trip and a good chance to meet some of the other parents.  Ollie is an easy travel buddy as long as he has food.

Their team didn't come home with any wins but they played some great games and finished the last game with a tie.

We had some time to kill after the last game and before our flight so we joined one of his teammates and K1 Speed track and then went to Dave & Busters at the mall.

Words of Wisdom

It's been a whirlwind with Brody and his college journey.  In the last 2 weeks there has been an official decision to attend WSU this fall.   It isn't necessarily what we were wanting/wishing/hoping for but we all know he is going to have a good experience because he is such a great kid.  Brad and I took him out to dinner because we don't have that many more evenings where it would work.   We enjoyed our time with him and passed along all our words of wisdom from our college days.   We also reminded him of how proud we are of him and all that he has done and the young man he is.   Still can't believe my first born is off to college.

Staining the Fence

We finally got a new fence put up but it needed to be stained. Brad hired the kids and they have been working hard. It's fun to see them motivated and working on a project.
