Annika

Our friend Annika came to the Pacific Northwest for a 2 week backpacking trip. On her way out of town she decided to extend her stay so she could hang out with our family for a day. She is such a sweetheart and so easy going that there was nothing hard about having her here. In fact, we loved it!

We played bananagrams and pickle ball.

We drove by the house she lived in for a few years then stopped at Triple XXX for milkshakes.   After that we made some pizza before we had to take her back to the airport.

One of my favorite things is seeing these two together.  They are so kind and sweet to each other and I know they will always be great friends.

Pickleball

While I was in Omaha with Colt the other kids set up a pickle ball court in our cul-de-sac. It has been a lot of fun and a great way to kick off the summer.

All-Stars

Darby is playing on the All-Star team this year. It has been fun watching them get ready for their games. It's a lot of time but Darby is having fun.

OH-MA-HA!

Colt's baseball team had a tournament in Omaha called the Slumpbuster. The idea was it's a great place for a team to get out of a slump and the Wildcats have certainly been in quite a slump.

Brad was supposed to go on this trip but since he is coaching Darby's softball team he couldn't miss the first All-Star game.  So I was lucky enough to go.

They won their first game then lost their next two, although could have had another win.  They were 3rd in their bracket so they played on Saturday for the elimination bracket.  We were told there was a very little chance they would play on Sunday, but wouldn't you know it they won both of their Saturday games and I had to change our flights.

On Thursday Colt went with a few of his teammates to the College World Series.  I decided not to go and felt a tad bit guilty but later learned it was actually a boring game with the final score being 1-0 and very few defensive plays.  Plus it was SO hot!

They had a big event for the tournament where they burned these bats with fireworks and explosives, only in Omaha.

The Wildcats lost in the semi-finals in a very disappointing way.  They were ahead 5-1 in the bottom of the 7th but the other team was able to tie it up.  The other team ended up winning in extra innings.  Overall, I think the trip was great for this team.  The boys had a lot of fun and I really enjoyed getting to know some of the parents.  I do wish Brad was able to join us too.

Go Wildcats!

Just a little tired from the week.  Early morning games and they weren't exactly in bed super early.  Too much fun hanging out with teammates.

Went Fishing

A few weeks ago Brad went over to the Spokane/Idaho area to go fishing with some friends. He has been doing this the past few years. He came home with another trophy and had a great time. We missed him but we survived all the things while he was gone.

Gone fishing

Before they even were done with school, Colt and his friends were itching to go fishing. I even took him to the store to buy some waders. Hopefully he will put them to good use this summer.

Rainier Cup

Darby had a soccer tournament a few weeks ago down in Puyallup called the Rainier Challenge. She was in this tournament last year too. Her team did quite well and made it to the semi-finals. Unfortunately they lost to a VERY good team. Overall it was a good experience and a test of what they can do. Ollie came down for one of the games and we saw Brad Dupea. He used to coach with Brad at Interlake so we know him pretty well.  He was one of the trainers at the tournament.
