Lobster Roll

Brad's dream was to have a lobster roll in Maine.  We were able to find a restaurant in Kennebunkport called Allison's.   Since we aren't quite in season a lot of places were closed.    We had about a 15 minute wait so we went to a few shops before eating.  We were HUNGRY.

Brad ordered his lobster roll and the kids had hamburgers and mac and cheese.  We said they could order Lobster but only if they LOVED crab.   We didn't want to buy lobster if they weren't going to eat it.   They did each have little samples of the lobster and all went back to eating their own lunches.

Kennebunk

We learned that Kennebunk and Kennebunkport are two separate towns and they are right next to each other.  We had a very difficult time parking our RV not because there wasn't room but because the signs everywhere said "No RVs".  Even an empty parking lot had the sign.  Brad called up the police station and asked them about it.   The main idea is that they don't want tour buses and RVs taking up space in this town.   He said someone will complain about an RV.     We also learned that the worst thing that could happen is that we would get a ticket for $25.   We wouldn't be towed.  So we took our chances on a side street.

Then we walked into town.

Kennebunkport

We were thinking about going back down to Boston but Brad doesn't like backtracking and we weren't sure what exactly we would do in the city.   So, we decided to head north.  (And now I have added Boston to the list of cities I need to go back and visit)

Since we are trying to hit as many states as we can we made sure to put Maine on our list.
I was so excited about going here.    We drove through New Hampshire so we checked that off our list too.

Maine did not disappoint.  We parked near this beach for a few hours so Brad could do some work and the kids explored and some of them worked on school work.  It was cold and windy.  If it wasn't blowing wind then it wasn't too cold but the second the wind started it was chilly.

Cotton candy

Ollie has been begging for cotton candy this entire trip.  (to the put of it being really annoying)   When we were in Florida we heard George was going to a state fair so we asked him to get some cotton candy.  He did but then we left it at their house.

He asked for it at the baseball game but a miscommunication between Brad and I meant he didn't get it.  I was actually glad about that because the cotton candy at the stadium was in a plastic tub.   If Ollie wanted cotton candy I wanted it to be like this at a place we can remember.

So, at Salisbury Beach we found a candy shop selling Cotton Candy.  It was huge so we had the kids share this one and it was almost perfect.

More of Salisbury Beach

We went back to the beach later this time forcing all the kids to come with us.

It was still cold and windy.

Game room

Brad needed to get caught up on work and the kids also needed some time for school so we stayed two nights at Rose Beach RV park.  It was a crowded RV park in terms of being really close to the next RV but there weren't really many people there.    So even if it wasn't a great spot it was nice to have a day to just chill and get some things done.

The kids did some school work and then we took a break in the game room.

We kind of interrupted Brad's quiet work space but I think it was a good distraction for him.....at least for a little bit.

Salisbury Beach

One of the problems we are running into is the lack of RV parks that are open up in the Northeast.   I was able to find one but it was a little further from Boston than I was hoping.   The initial idea was that we could head back down into Boston for more sightseeing but we were also on our way towards Maine which was our next destination.

We ended up at Rose Beach RV Resort in Salisbury, Massachusetts.  We were about a 10 -15 minute walk from the beach.

Brad, Darby, Bo and I walked down and had some coffee, chai and muffins.  It was a little cold and windy but being at the beach always fills our souls.
