Beach Day

We had a beach day in Florida and went to a place called Cherie Downs.

Uncle John was amazing and got all the gear together and took all the kids (except Darby & Sayler) down to the beach.  Darby & Sayler got there later after her Urgent Care trip and a shopping trip to buy matching swimsuits.

Brad and I made it even later because we had to take the RV in for a checkup.

The kids were all having fun playing in the waves and boogie boarding.

Apparently, Bo was the king of reapplying his sunblock.
Unfortunately some of us didn't reapply it enough.

5 stitches!

We were getting ready for a beach day so I asked the kids to get their sunglasses. Darby listened right away and went to the RV to get them.   Less than a few minutes later she came running back holding her head.   Aunt Jessi saw she was bleeding.

I left so Jenny could take care of her.   I can’t handle blood and Jenny seemed to be ready to handle it.   Brad came to help soon after.   I happily found some washcloths and I’m happy to help out if I don’t have to look at blood or cuts.

When she was returning from the RV she ran into the pop out.   She hit her head hard enough to require a trip Urgent Care.  Thankfully Jenny was able to drive Brad and Darby.

They got her in very quickly (I think child and head injuries move you to the front of the urgent care line).  Brad reports that she was very tough and handled it like a champ.

She ended up with 5 stitches and there is a small part of her that is proud of this.

WARNING: The next picture is a little graphic if you have a really weak stomach.  It was ok for me to look at and I didn't post the pictures that make me squeamish.

Darby & Brody are injury buddies and we don’t want anyone else to join them.

A Florida Welcome

One of our main destinations is to visit my sister's.  Both of them live in Florida even though we all grew up in the Pacific Northwest.

We have been talking about visiting them on this trip for years so once again it has been a dream come true.  The best thing is that my kids get to see their cousins.

They welcomed us to Florida with cheers and waves.   We were all excited.

We also had a birthday party for all the March birthdays.

And of course we did some swimming.  https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1BKHF7PXlbV8Ygor8-k4DwcCJEczoTdHIhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1XHp1xSvHQAW9sEJNlM9D6R3grBUCIdft

Colt’s Pig Stand

I was texting with my sisters about a good place to stop that was halfway between Lake City and their house.   I was hoping for a park so we could stop and eat lunch.  And although a beach sounded great it can also involve more work than I wanted to take on.

One of the suggestions was Colt’s Pig House.   We knew we had to stop here.

We didn't tell the kids where we were going so it was fun to see their reaction and of course Colt was grinning from ear to ear.

Brad took all these pictures including the one with Colt by the company van.

The best part about all of this is is the food was amazing!

Lake City

We spent a night at the Pensacola Walmart.  The next morning we continued to make our way east.   We stopped in a town called Marianna and spent about 3 or 4 hours at a park.  We did this so Brad could do some work and so the kids could do some school work.    They also had some recess time.

After our stop we went to Lake City and stayed at the Lake City Resort.

It was a nice place and I was amused by this sign.  It’s in their fishing pond.

Celebrating 14

We had some fun celebrating Brody’s birthday.  It started with brunch at the Waffle House.  This was our first stop at this restaurant that seems to be everywhere in the south.

This one was in Biloxi, Mississippi.

We toured the USS Alabama.

After Urgent Care we went to Steak N Shake for dinner.

Since we didn't really have time to celebrate before settling in for the night, we ended up having cupcakes the next day so we could sing "Happy Birthday!"
