Headband & Disco Glasses

I know I have mentioned this before, but I LOVE Legos. Yes, they are also a source of frustration trying to figure out the best way to store and manage them but it all pays off with things like this.

I love that it gives endless possibilities of imagination.  Brody made a Lego Headband and Disco Glasses. He was at a friend's house who had a disco ball and I think that is where the idea came from.

Kindergarten Portfolio

Brody's class had a portfolio session. I was able to go with him to his classroom and look at some of the work he has done over the school year. Although I have had a chance to volunteer in his classroom there were a few things that I did not know he had done. They do so much in school.

Brody & Mrs. Pacheco

She was on maternity leave and came back in December.   She does a fantastic job with all these kids and is such a sweet lady.  She is taking next year off but I'm hoping she will be Colt's teacher in two years.

Sandbox, Ice Cream & Jeep Rides

Our friends Ryker & Annika came over. We are savoring these last few days with them.  It really is so wonderful when they come to play.  There is no need to entertain them and I hardly have to watch them.  They all get along so well.

We took Annika & Ryker back to their house and stopped for ice cream on the way home.  (We also used this to get them to clean up the toys).

During their ice cream I heard Ryker say "Colt is my best friend."

Then Ollie said "Ryker is my best friend."

Annika said "Brody is my 2nd best friend".

We are going to miss our best friends.

We are just missing Aksel.

Ryker & Colt got to ride in Brad's jeep.  And listen to some really cool music.

Sunday Camping

We had to pack up our gear to leave Sunday afternoon.  The kids did not want to leave.

They made up a game down by the lake that involved launching "boats" then trying to get them back using big sticks.  My only goal was for no one to go into the lake.  We accomplished that although we did have Colt's shoe go in.  Thankfully Brody was able to retrieve it.

We went on a walk/hike to check out other campsites.

We spotted these "truffula trees" everywhere.

More of the "boat" game.

Darby enjoyed watching.  This was a windy picture.  She loved feeling the wind on her face.

I had to get a picture of me somewhere.  This is a self portrait.

The boys and their sticks (boats).

Bye for now.

(I was hoping to get a picture of how dirty her hand is but the picture doesn't show it very well)

More Kachess Camping

I invited Uncle Jason and Zephyr to join us.  We were all surprised and very excited when they showed up right at lunch time.

Here they are checking out a fishing spot.

It was much warmer than we were expecting and we didn't have our canopy.  So Brad was very happy to come up with a camping project and put together this shade.  It was so nice to have.

Can you see the dirt on her face? and her pants?

Ollie was concerned about his sticky hands (but was never once concerned about the amount of dirt he had all over him)

We loved having Jason & Zephyr with us for the day.

Lake Kachess Camping

Brad has been itching to go camping. With the weather forecast this past weekend we made a last minute trip to Lake Kachess. We had never been to this camping place so we were looking forward to trying something new.   This campground is located just on the other side of Snoqualmie Pass.  As we were driving I got a phone call from my brother (he knew we were headed over there).   He asked where we were and I told him we were almost to his house (on the Pass).  He said "quick get off the next exit."   I wasn't sure why, because it isn't like him to be so serious about inviting us to his place.

His phone call came at the perfect time.  Less than 2 miles from where we got off was a HUGE accident that blocked all lanes of traffic.  Cars were stuck and people were out of their cars with their children and dogs just waiting.   Jason told us of a back road that would take us to Lake Kachess.  We were able to go on the dirt road (it was an adventure) but it eventually got us to the campsite.

Eating dinner

Darby loved it!

Hanging out by the campfire.

Doing what boys do best...digging in dirt.

Brad and his kids.
Such a beautiful place.

Doing some exploring.

The kids love camping.  There is so much to explore and I love watching their imaginations.

Ollie & Nose Picking

Ollie was picking his nose.  This was our conversation.

Me:  Ollie don't pick your nose.
Ollie:  Mom, when you pick your nose five times, it bleeds.
Me:  I know, that's why you don't pick your nose.
Ollie:  I only picked it 3 times.

(a picture from a while ago after another nose picking discussion)

LOVE THIS KID!
