Silly Day

On April 1st Colt had silly day at school. They were encouraged to dress in something silly or bring a joke to school. We helped him put his shirt on backwards, wear on pant leg rolled up, and he wore one shoe and one boot. He also wore this hat inside out. He looked silly!

It was so cute because as we were driving to preschool he kept asking if anyone else would be dressed silly.  He was nervous he was the only one.

There were only a few other kids who dressed silly but I think Colt didn't feel embarrassed at all and instead had a fun time with it.  He was especially pleased to pose for a silly picture.

Easter - Part 2

After we ate the kids had an Easter Egg hunt. My cousin's yard isn't very big but it didn't matter. The kids still had fun.

Looking at all their treasures.

In another effort to get the kids outside (and me too) we had a spoon and egg race.  It was hard to make it a race but we just let the kids practice.  They thought it was so fun!

They were hard boiled eggs (I had planned on dying them) so if they fell they only suffered small cracks.  Thank goodness!

My cousin, little Cameo.  I think she enjoyed this the most.

Easter - Part 1

The boys woke up to Easter "baskets" that were sitting on the table. (A BIG THANK YOU to AUNT JENNY for making this possible).

After our morning we went to church for the 1st service.  I worked with the preschoolers at the 2nd service so Brad took all the kids to the Welke's to watch the Michigan game.  Go BLUE!

After the game we headed down to Fife to my cousin's house for an Easter lunch/dinner.

An attempt at a family shot.  Unfortunately the kids were still waking up from their short nap in the car and weren't the most cooperative.

I made the kids eat outside. It was so gorgeous!

Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt

We were invited to go to a friend's house in Port Orchard for an Easter Egg Hunt. I was excited to go but with 2 weeks of sick kids I decided to stay closer to home. I was looking for a good, free local place and had trouble finding something. (The one at Vasa Park was canceled this year due to construction). So I decided to organize one for our cul-de-sac. It was a hit! It was a gorgeous day and the kids and parents were so excited to participate. The older kids hid the Easter eggs in the front yards. While they were doing that the younger kids hid eggs in our backyard for the older kids to find later.  We had more than enough eggs for everyone and the perfect amount of candy, money and little toys.  It wasn't an overload.

Darby was happy with her one egg.

Sorting through their treasure.

Cougar Mountain Hike

Brad had track practice Saturday morning and it was a beautiful spring morning. I decided to take the kids on a hike, by myself. (I think that deserves a few bonus points). It was the first time I used the backpack carrier that we bought years ago. It worked out very well.

Other than a few times where Ollie wanted to go the other way we survived and had a great 2.5 mile hike in the mountain.  It was such a beautiful morning to be outside.  I love these kids!

Easter Eggs

It was such a gorgeous day I decided to color Easter eggs outside. It made for less of a mess to clean up. But it did require a lot of taking supplies back and forth.

It's always fun to see how excited the boys get about these little things.

More of Brody's 6th birthday

We also took Brody to the Lego store so he could pick out a container of Legos. He didn't want this but wanted a set instead. We told him he had to make up the price difference ($3.00) with his own money. He was determined to have a set.

He picked out this Technic crane and practically built it by himself (Brad helped just a little bit).

I've decided to start a new career in cake decorating.  You gotta love the race car cake I made.  Goodness!  I have some strengths and obviously some weaknesses too.

Even if the outside wasn't great, clearly the inside was tasty.

A little singing!
