Brody's Date with Daddy

Brad loved his one on one time with Colt that he wanted to try and have some time with Brody.  It was a little more complicated to coordinate a weekend but we managed to find an entire day.  (I went to my cousin's baby shower and spent the rest of the day at my parents).

Brad & Brody had a lot of fun.

They started the morning at a birthday party where they got to see the movie The Lorax.  After the movie they had pizza.

Brad wanted to go to a brick museum in Tacoma but it was closed a little too early.  Instead they went to the LEGO store at Bellevue Square.

After 2 plus hours in the LEGO store they stopped for a Starbucks treat.

The next big adventure was riding up and down the escalators.  Apparently they would still be doing this right now if Brody had his way.

They came back home and spent time playing with their new LEGOs.  Brad then realized he needed more pieces to build a second Fire engine, so they went back to the LEGO store.   After their 2nd trip they stopped at Dairy Queen for dinner.

When Brad & Brody got home the other boys were already asleep.  So Brody had a few more "minutes" to play with LEGOS.

This was the fire engine Brad built.  I certainly don't have the patience to build this.

Chainsaw

My parents bought a new chainsaw for Brad for his birthday.  It seems a little over the top because how often do we need a chainsaw.  But as my dad says "every guy needs a chainsaw".  Plus, we think he will be borrowing it from us every now and then.

Brad was excited to test it out on a few of the trees that fell over during the windstorm.  I snapped a few pictures.

Race Car

We went to the Home Depot workshop and the boys built a race car. The place was busier than we have ever seen it. We came at the peak time, but we somehow managed to not only see our friends, Annika & Ryker, but we found a seat right next to them. And as luck would have it they were sitting next to our cousins Abi & Andrew. Unfortunately, they were just finishing up their projects but it was still great to see them.

Football

One of the games we like to play with the boys is football.  We don't have much space to play inside but we make the best of it.   It's a great game for me and Brad because we can sit on the couch and throw and catch with the boys.

The boys love it and are always cracking up when they actually catch the ball and get a touchdown.  We just love watching their reactions.

This is Ollie's cheesy grin.  What a goofball!

The excitement of catching the football.  It doesn't happen very often but they are getting better.

A few videos....

Sam-I-Am

I do not like Green Eggs & Ham.

I don't usually do things like this, not that I don't want to, but mostly because I'm not that organized or on top of it to plan anything.  But I knew Dr. Seuss' Birthday celebration was March 2nd and I had some ham in the refrigerator.  All I needed was more eggs and that was easy to get with a trip I already needed to the grocery store.  So, we had a special Green Eggs & Ham for breakfast.  The boys thought it was fun.  We had a few coloring pages and I read a few Dr. Seuss books to them.

I tried food coloring in the ham but you can't really see it.

A collection of our Dr. Seuss books.  We are missing a few but we love the ones we have.  (The one o top is not written by Dr. Seuss but it does use the character The Cat in the Hat).

We didn't do many Dr. Seuss activities in the day, but even at night Brody mentioned this was Dr. Seuss day.  Some of my "teaching" was working.

Cornstarch & Water

I let the boys play with cornstarch and water.  They loved it!  I'm not sure what I was thinking.  While it provided some entertainment for them, it involved more mess for me to clean up.  And while I don't usually like messes they are way more overwhelming right now.

You can tell the boys were having a blast.

Colt's fort

This is the fort Brad and Colt built.  We left it up for a few days and just took it down. I didn't realize that Brad had used our ironing board (glad its finally getting some use), a ladder, a step stool and assorted chairs to create this fort.  It isn't exactly huge but its very creative and has lots of little spaces to crawl into.  The boys loved it.
