Birthday Party- Day 1

My 34th birthday was last Saturday.  The boys decorated my door.  We were a little low on supplies so I have to give credit to Brad for being a little creative.

I also got these gorgeous flowers from my neighbor.  I know I have mentioned this before but I just LOVE my neighbors.  They definitely made me feel special.

Brad had his annual poker tournament on Saturday (I know what you are thinking how could he plan something like that on my birthday, but I gave him the approval and actually encouraged him to stick to that date.  The other date that was proposed was the same day as our friend's wedding and I didn't want to miss it).

The best thing about my birthday is the fact that I share it with my mom.  So, even though Brad was busy hanging out with the guys I still got to spend time with my mom and dad.   And as always the boys had a blast at their house.

My sister and her husband and kids were also there.  My Aunt Pede & Uncle Mark also came over with a cake to help us celebrate.

Blowing out the candles.

After cake and ice cream we spent some time hanging out.  Colt loved drawing on this magnetic pad and was so proud of himself for all the drawings he finished.

I wanted to make sure I got a picture with my mom and dad and the boys when we were celebrating our birthdays.

And another one with just Grandma Shari and the boys.

This is their silly face picture.

Although I didn't spend most of the day with Brad I knew I had another day to celebrate my birthday.  I love it when they last a little bit longer than one day.

Family Picture at the Beach

Brody & Colt do a great job sitting down and coloring or drawing.  Sometimes it fascinates and amazes me what they come up with.  This is one of my favorites.

Brody explains the drawing in the video below.

Valentine's Painting

I'm giving myself a few "mom points" since I actually let the boys paint something.  Painting is always an overwhelming project to me.  I have the energy to help and clean up in the morning but Ollie is usually awake.  This time I thought I had some energy while Ollie was napping and Brody & Colt were working on the project.

And although it required a little extra patience on my part, the boys had fun painting their Valentine papers.  (I had greater visions for the finished project but it is still a work in progress).

Another Fort

The boys decided to make a fort and used all their "baby sized" blankets.  It kept falling apart and the boys were frustrated so Brad finally went upstairs and grabbed a big sheet for them to use.  They were excited.

I was able to get a few pictures of Ollie coming out of it.

We cleaned up the fort and I didn't realize how many toys they had brought into their place.  It was a mess!

Jeannine's Wedding

We went to a wedding for our friend Jeannine.  We were going back and forth about the idea of bringing the boys.  We were encouraged to bring them as many of our friends there were also bringing their kids.  We knew it would be easier to have an adult conversation without them.  Since we never really made a decision we didn't secure a babysitter (or family) to watch the boys and brought them.  It was a very kid friendly atmosphere and the boys did a great job.  It was a little hectic with meals, potty breaks etc. but it was well worth it when the boys put on a show for the dancing.

Ollie found this girl that he loved to hold hands with.  They would just stand there holding hands for 2 or 3 minutes.

I didn't get great pictures but I did get this video of the boys.  Brody was anxious to hear Ice, Ice Baby and asked the DJ a few times if he could play it.  When the song was finally up the DJ turned on the spotlight for Brody to dance in.  We aren't sure where he gets his moves but it is so fun to watch.  (it's also fun to watch Colt's dancing in the background).  I just wish I would have had a better video of it all.

We can't wait for the next wedding, or dance party!

February Picnic

It's still hard to believe but we had our first outdoor lunch of the year and it was only the start of February.  The boys loved it and it made me a little anxious for the days when our outside lunches are a little more frequent.

Fort Smashing

Our freezer fort was starting to collapse and was finally taking up too much play space in our house.  Brad came up with the idea to take the fort outside and have the boys smash it.  They loved the idea and didn't have a meltdown when we said we had to throw it away.

Ollie wasn't too interested in smashing.
