Back to School

We weren't very happy that school started before Labor Day again.  But it did and we are here. 

Bo met his teacher.  Darby didn't go to Meet the Teacher because she was out on a boat with her friend.   And then I was sad to think I wouldn't have another Meet the Teacher with Darby.  It's making me embrace these years even more.

First day of school pictures. 

Colt was actually sick the first day and Brody didn't have to go to school until 12:00 (freshman only go in the morning).  So, it was just Ollie for the first morning picture. 

Our neighbor and Ollie's good friend is back at school this year (after homeschooling for a few years).  He is a grade younger than Ollie but Ollie still showed him the ropes.

This is really the 2nd day when the older kids had a late start so all of them were awake for the picture.

 

Fishing, hiking & poker

Our time at Teanaway was very relaxing.  I did some reading.  The kids played some poker and Brad took them fishing.  

Brad, Ollie & Darby went to find some reception.  They had to leave the campground, cross a road and climb this hill.  It was a little adventure but they were able to find some reception. 

Brad loves cooking on the grill....fajitas again. 

 

Teanaway Getaway

The last weekend in August we realized we had nothing planned. So, we decided to go on another adventure in MARV. Not everyone was excited to go but sometimes we have forced family fun.

We weren't exactly sure where we wanted to go but Brad got a recommendation from a friend and we ended up at the Teanaway forest.   It was a great location and we loved our weekend of hanging out, fishing and being with each other.  

 

 

Wings

Colt was hanging out with his friends and called to see if I could take them to get some wings because apparently I am just an Uber driver.   But the truth is I didn't have much else going and these kids needed something to do.   So, I told them I would but they needed to have a plan.  I didn't want them staring at the menu trying to figure out who was going to pay and then waste 30 minutes doing nothing.

They came up with a plan so I took them to Wing Stop.   There plan quickly fizzled and they all went back to not knowing what to order.   In the meantime I ordered some wings for Brad. 

   

Their order was definitely more of a snack than a dinner because they devoured the wings and still wanted more.    Even if it was mildly annoying I am thankful I was able to be their Uber driver for the afternoon.  

 

Alki Beach

We met up with the Hodo family to spend some time at Alki. This is something we have tried to do every summer and I'm glad we were able to squeeze it in before our summer was over. 

 

Ollie was out of town so he wasn't able to join us.   

 

The rest of the kids went straight to work on their sand castles.  

 

Colt & Devin ended up winning the competition and that win is still a bit debatable.
