2 day getaway - Day 1

We know it is SO important for us to find time for date nights (or mornings or afternoons) but we also have learned how important it is for us to get away for at least 24 hours.   It is a challenge for many reasons but we find a way to make it happen and for that I am so thankful.   This year we were able to get away for two nights and two days.  My parents watched the kids and Brad and I planned at trip to Mt. Rainier with the hopes of taking a day hike to Camp Muir.

We left early Tuesday morning and drove down to drop the kids off.  Then we headed up to the Park.  We didn't get to the park until about noon because we stopped off at RMI and the Whittaker Mountaineering store.  (one of Brad's favorite places)

On our way to Paradise we stopped off at Longmire.  We had never stopped here before so we wanted to check it out.  There wasn't a whole lot to see so we didn't stay long.

We headed up to Paradise and hung out there for a few hours.  We went on a few short hikes but nothing too tough since we were hoping to go on a big hike the next day.

This is the cabin we stayed in.  Small but perfect for what we needed.

Bo's bodyguard

When we were walking around the property Sayler decided to watch out for Bo. She took his hand and didn't let go. Bo loved the attention.

Some gems

I came across some more gems from my camera phone.

These two are inseparable.
Ollie has declared several times that he is going to marry Sayler.

Bo is just adorable.

Still love this picture.

Lego Chess

A few weeks ago we went to the Lego store on a whim. The kids were asking and Brad said "why not?"  It's a little easier with all the kids in there because the older 3 are pretty good about not getting too bored.  But Darby & Bo are usually done after 15 minutes.  The trouble is my oldest kid (Brad) gets way too into the legos.  This time he saw a Lego Chess set.  He also saw the price of the set and gave himself a challenge to make a cheaper one.

Using pieces from the wall he made these Lego creations for a chess board.  He does have pieces to complete the chess board but those need to be assembled.  Pictures will be hopefully coming soon.

A bag of dirt

This picture was sent by one of the leaders at church. Brody was picked to do a little role playing where he apparently received a bag of dirt. Apparently he did a great job being excited about his bag of dirt.

Slippers

With the crazy hot temperatures the boys have preferred to sleep on the floor. Ollie likes to sleep in Brody & Colt's room.

They usually sleep with just a pair of underwear on but apparently Ollie needed his slippers too.

Tire Swing

They have a tire swing at the Great Soccer Campout (Carolyn's house ---Jeannine's mom)

Darby loved going on it and I'm glad I was able to snap some decent pictures.

This is my favorite!
