Banff Pics

After our time at Lake Louise and Moraine Lake we went back to our campground.  The next two days we did laundry, explored Banff, went fishing and enjoyed being with each other.

A few more random pictures from our trip.

Hike to the Bears

When we were at Moraine Lake we decided to hike to the Valley of the Larches. Colt was itching to do something longer and harder but we had to remind him not everyone was in as good of hiking shape as he was. It was a good hike. The best part is we saw a grizzly bear and her two cubs. Thankfully they were far enough away to make me feel better.

Moraine Lake

After Lake Louise we got back on the shuttle, some grabbed the appropriate hiking shoes and we left to go to Moraine Lake. It was just as beautiful and also just as crowded.  The kids got their instagram pictures and then we settled on a good hike at the Lake.

Lake Louise

After the Icefields we drove the rest of the way to Banff. It was nice to get to our next stop and we found our campground. The next morning we woke up really early so we could catch a shuttle to Lake Louise.

The kids got their Instagram pictures and we walked the lake hike for just a little bit. We decided to head back to our RV to get some hiking shoes and then head over to Moraine Lake.

Icefields

On our drive from Jasper to Banff we stopped at the Icefields. It may have been a bit of a money grab but we went on a tour that took us out to the glacier. We were able to hang out on the glacier for a little bit.

This is the view from our lunch we had there.

We also went on a skywalk which is a glass bridge that takes you over the cliff.  It was a little strange walking on glass but it wasn't quite as scary as I thought it would be.

Jasper - Day 2

We settled into our first night in Jasper at the camp ground. There were lots of elk roaming around in the morning. We were trying to figure out what we wanted to do with our day but our first order of business was getting the check engine light diagnosed. We went into town and found a shop that could help us. The guy was super helpful and very friendly. He also told us about the fire that Jasper had 2 years earlier.

After we got MARV checked out, we stopped at Starbucks and then went for a hike.  It was supposed to be about a 3 mile hike but the kids wanted to do the bigger loop.  The elevation gain wasn't very big but it was a lot of walking through the trails.  The burned trees were partly cool and partly sad.

After our hike we took our pictures by the Jasper sign.   Then we decided to take the tram to the top of the mountain.

It was gorgeous at the top.  All the boys decided to go on a longer hike to make it to the tippy top.  Darby only had her sandals so she decided not to go.  It was a great day in Jasper!  We love the area.
