Ouch!

I got a call from Darby's soccer coach and thought I was late picking her up.    She said Darby is ok but she got hurt.   When she was drinking her water bottle a teammate bumped into her and the water bottle it her nose, drawing some blood.   Her coach was wondering if I wanted to pick her up early from practice but Darby said she was ok so I knew everything was fine. 

She was pretty proud of this injury.  :)  

In-N-Out

We made one last stop at In-N-Out before we flew back home. Darby and I don't really like hamburgers so we had french fries and milkshakes so we could still enjoy In-N-Out.

 What a fun little adventure for me and Darby but I think I might make Brad go from now on because apparently I am really embarrassing.  :)    

Beach & Belmont

Since Darby's team didn't advance to the finals it meant we had all of Monday to explore San Diego. We met up with a few other teammates and went to La Jolla Cove to see the Sea Lions again.  After that we drove to Belmont park.  The girls had SO much fun!   It was really fun watching they way they all interacted with each other. 

 

Surf Cup

Darby's team had one game on Saturday and two on Sunday. They played ok, not great. It was definitely a fun experience being part of a "big" tournament.  

Some of it was a bit crazy but I guess that makes us one of the crazy ones.

 

California Cousins

I sent a text message to my cousin Nicole to see how close they were to San Diego. I knew they lived in Southern California but I don't know the distance between cities.  They were able to drive down to us to meet us for breakfast near our hotel.  We saw them last year on our RV trip so it was fun to see them and their kids again.

They came back to the hotel for a little bit until we were able to figure out a plan.  The kids loved the koi pond.  Darby joined her team for some team activities and I went back to the mall with Jim, Nicole and the kids.

 I savor every time I get to spend with them. They are so sweet.  And it's also a really good reason to go back to southern California. 

La Jolla Brunch

Darby's soccer team had a tournament in San Diego, the infamous Surf Cup.  I thought Brad would be traveling with her because he is better at watching sports than me.  But he wasn't able to get the time off work so I went with her.   Her teammate's dad picked us both up at the airport.  He ended up driving us around all weekend which was so nice (both financially and logistically).   After he picked us up we went to La Jolla and had brunch.   

Then we walked to down to the beach to watch the Sea Lions.   They could entertain me all day. 

After watching the Sea Lions we soaked our feet in the water....and eventually the girls got all wet.  I guess they should have worn their swimsuits after all.  

 

On a Jet Plane
