Military Ride

A friend of Kim & Eric's came over to give us a ride in this crazy military vehicle.  It was orginally designed for use in the Marines but it didn't have the capability to fire ammo so they started selling these to the public.  It was a crazy fun ride through the bushes and the trees.

Ohio farm

Brad’s friend Kim and her family live on a farm in Ohio.  We were able to visit them and enjoyed so many things while we were there for less than 24 hours.

Kim found this Mastodon tooth on her property a few years ago.  The kids enjoyed looking at it and also listening to the stories from the farm.

Lighthouse for Grandma

When we were at Sodus Point putting our feet in Lake Ontario when  I saw the lighthouse at the end of the pier.  I didn’t think we were going to be there long enough to walk down there but then I realized we weren’t going anywhere for a while.   So Colt and I walked down to the pier and he took my picture.

These are also for my Grandma Andresen.  Souvenir pictures.

Lake Ontario

Brad has a new challenge to put our feet in all 5 Great Lakes.  So we took a little detour to find a place on Lake Ontario.   We ended up at Sodus Point.  We didn’t plan to spend too much time here because it was dumping rain as we were driving there.  But the sun came out and we spent a few hours looking for sea glass.   We were so glad we stopped here.

We did park MARV in a spot that we weren’t sure about but it ended up not being a problem.

Whirlpools

After the Cave of the Winds we had a snack break where we warmed up a bit with hot chocolate and some warm food.  It actually wasn't that cold out but with the damp rain it made us all feel a lot colder.  The kids were actually really great with all of it and hardly complained.   (I was complaining to myself).

After warming up our tour guide took us to a few more viewing spots.  The rapids and the flowing water was mesmerizing.  I could definitely come here on a warm day with a chair and sit and watch the rapids storm on by.

This area is known as the Whirlpool.  A section of the river that seems a little calmer but has a strong whirlpool that has caused trouble for lots of people who have attempted to go by it.

Cave of the Winds

Our tour guide Nancy showed us some other view points of the falls.   Then we went to the Cave of the Winds.  This is where you can walk right next to Bridal Veil Falls and really feel the waterfall.

You could really feel the power of the water and the wind.  Colt was so excited to walk along the steps.

Bo was the only one who didn't go up these steps and in hindsight he was probably the smartest of all of us.   When you walk up the steps you are literally walking through water.  Our feet and socks were soaked.

The Canadian Falls

The Canadian Falls are the epic horseshoe falls that you see in the pictures.   And all the reviews say the falls are best viewed from the Canadian side but since the border is closed we didn't even have that as an option.

The boat ride stops us at the base of the Canadian Falls and it stays there for a good 5 minutes.  You can hear the sound of the falls, feel the mist on your face and watch as the water swirls all around you.  It is such a cool experience.

We did get a little wet but it wasn't too bad.

It was a rainy day which wasn't ideal but it did make for even smaller crowds than the already small crowds we had.
