Parade

Our neighbor Kate came over to see if they wanted to have a parade in the cul-de-sac. How adorable! They had bubbles and candy to throw to the crowd. The crowd was about two people deep, or just two people. It was a hoot! And they did their parade multiple times.

Just some dancing in the kitchen.  Without shirts.

Skipping Rocks

I get to spend a lot of time with this little guy. It's fun, but exhausting. I'm trying to cherish these moments especially when he enjoys the simple things like throwing rocks.  Well, he thinks he skips them.

Hood to Coast Washington

Two years ago I was able to run the Hood to Coast Relay which is one of the most popular relay races in the world starting on Mt. Hood and ending in Seaside, Oregon.  Last year this team decided to run the inaugural Hood to Coast in Washington.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to go last year.

But thankfully they asked if I could join the team this year.   I knew Brad had a fishing trip planned so I checked with him and this weekend was open so I was in!

The Tuesday before the race Brad called to tell me that he had messed up the dates of his fishing weekend and it was actually the same weekend.  And he was leaving the next day.  (Wednesday).

Thankfully, Fafa & Grammy came to the rescue and were able to come stay with the kids while both Brad and I went on our own adventures. (Honestly, if I didn't get to go you probably would have found me in a place for exhausted, overwhelmed mothers.  Is there a place like that?)

Anyways, I drove down with one of my teammates on Friday afternoon.  We met at our hotel in Shelton.  Then we decorated our van.

We woke up VERY early on Saturday morning.  3:15.   I didn't sleep well so maybe got 2 hours of sleep.  Then the relay started.

I was the 4th and 10th leg of a 12 leg race.

I went out too fast because I had so much adrenaline in me.  It hurt me when I got to mile 4.5.  But I finished the leg.

My second leg was just under 8 miles.   7.74.   I didn't do as well as I would have liked but I also didn't train for this race as well as I would have liked so it wasn't a big surprise.

This is me jumping at the end.  Yes, I had some energy but that energy was mostly because I was D-O-N-E!

Our team at the finish.

Our team for the classic jumping at the beach photo.

Even though I was exhausted from a lack of sleep and running almost 14 miles within 8 hours it was what this tired momma needed.  It sounds crazy, but it was so fun!   I hope I get to do it again next year.

Late Night playing

I have a love/hate relationship with this time of year. We are just weeks away from finishing school and also weeks away from the longest day of the year. It is nearly impossible to get them to bed before 10:00. Thankfully they don't have to be at the bus stop until 8:45 in the morning. But it makes this mom very tired.

I was about to start the bedtime process and Darby and Bo said it wasn't dark enough to go to bed and they wanted to play outside.

I don't blame them and I love seeing my kids play outside.

5th Grade Camp

A few weeks ago Brody had the opportunity to go to 5th grade camp with his classmates. They went to Camp Orkila on Orcas Island. Brody was excited about it and he had a great time.

We had a last minute emergency when Brody had a small allergic reaction to something.  It caused him to wake up in the middle of the night itching.  Thankfully with the help of the school nurse and our friends we were able to get the form through so he could have some Benadryl at camp, if needed.  And it was needed.

His favorite part of camp was the high ropes course.  I think this was a favorite for most of the 5th graders.

Friends

Our friends invited us to the beach park the other day. These are two pictures with their kids, Liam and Ashley. Liam plays on Colt's baseball team but is in the same grade as Ollie. The picture with the girls is from a baseball game.

It was a VERY hot day so the beach was the perfect place to be.
