March Birthdays & an April one

We decided to combine our family birthday party with Brody's friend party. It worked out nicely because it was a sunny day and we just had an "open house".  My parents came up earlier in the day and left in the middle of Brody's party.  Fafa & Grammy showed up a little after Brody's party started and stayed through the evening.  

We were also able to celebrate Grammy's birthday which was the day before.  

Nerf Gun Birthday Party

I made some last minute preparations to have a friends birthday party for Brody.  He had a friend birthday party in Kindergarten (when he was half day and I could have a party in the middle of the day).   The past few years I have somehow gotten away with only family parties.   

Since I only planned this two weeks in advance I was able to look at the weather and saw that we had some nice sun coming our way (after 6 months of record rain).   So I took a chance and had the party on a Sunday Afternoon.   We also decided to have a nerf gun party.  This is definitely new for me too as I finally allowed nerf guns in our house at Christmas.  (I have never had a problem with my boys playing with nerf guns...just never encouraged them). 

So here we are a Nerf Gun Party for Brody's 9th birthday. 

We had great weather.  Brad set up a war zone and we were in business.  

 

Brody had 7 of his friends (one ended up not being able to make it) and I think they all had a blast.  

It really was fun seeing Brody celebrated.   

Although I am not a party planner.   

Brody turns nine!

Brody turned 9 last week and its still hard for us to believe. 

After a sugary weekend Brody opted to not have donuts for breakfast and went with yogurt and granola.   The other kids were disappointed.  

I did get to bring Brody a subway sandwich at school.  He LOVED it! 

And since Colt's lunch is right after Brody's (and he has a summer birthday) I brought him a Subway lunch too. 

Brody wanted a new IPOD for his birthday.  We were able to get him an older version but one that still functions well.  He also got some new headphones from Grammy & Fafa.  He is feeling like one cool 9 year old. 

Easter Evening

After our time at Aunt Pede's we drove to Uncle Brian's house. It was dumping rain.  I am so glad we had some sunshine for the day.  

The kids played and a few played the board game Catan.

Ice Cream Sandwiches

Joe showed the kids how to have some real dessert. He put ice cream in between two cookies. The kids thought it was the best! But they think everything Joe does is the best. 

Easter

We went to church Easter morning and Brad was dressed in a suit and tie. It's been awhile since he has been that dressed up. Unfortunately, we didn't even get a picture.  But he did get plenty of compliments at church. 

After Easter we spent a few hours at home before driving to Aunt Pede's.  It was dumping rain at our house and as we were driving south I saw the blue skies and thought it might be sunny at Pede's.  (It was hard to imagine anywhere being sunny when we were in the middle of a downpour).   And it was sunny and it was awesome!

We played soccer with Uncle Joe and Uncle Dallas.  The kids loved it and it brought back some great memories for me.  

 

Then we had the Easter Egg Hunt.   Aunt Pede has a great yard for an egg hunt.
