Race Report - Lake Sammamish Half

Last Saturday I ran the Lake Sammamish Half Marathon for the 2nd year in a row. This year I convinced my good friend, Jen, to not only run it with me but also to put in some long training runs by my side. We had a lot of fun training together and both enjoyed the time just chatting away trying our best to pass the time.

Going into the race Jen gave me the ok to go on without her at any point in the race.  She runs the same pace as me and actually might be faster but her goal was to finish the race and hopefully finish under 2 hours.   So going into the race I had two options...push hard and try to beat my time from last year....or run with Jen and just enjoy our time together.    I opted for the 2nd and I'm so glad I did.

We still ran a VERY respectable time finishing in 1:51.47.   I felt we ran a little faster than we had done for our training runs but still ran so we could talk to each other and that made the first 12 miles go by very quickly.   The last mile seemed to be two miles but we finished and we are so happy.

Before the race.  This year it started at Redmond Town Center.  This was to eliminate the back and forth through the parking lot at the end.

After the race.
We had beautiful weather and it was actually on the warm side.
I could have ran in shorts.

Another post race picture but it turned out a little blurry.

My friend, Devon, also ran the race and I got a picture with her.

Now we are both suffering from Post Race Blues trying to figure out what we will do next.   Until then we will keep on running.  :)

Darby's 2nd haircut

Darby had her hair cut before by my cousin Cameo.  I would love it if Cameo could always cut her hair but there are a few problems. Cameo is quite a drive and Darby is not always the best at sitting still.  So for now I decided to go to a kid specific salon so she could get her hair cut.

She did a pretty good job and it was so sweet watching her act all grown up while getting her hair done.

They put her hair in cute braids and gave her some sparkles.

Suckers and one more ride on the quarter rides.

Quarter Rides

We went to Crossroads Mall to run a few errands. Darby & Bo loved the quarter rides. I thought I had a few quarters in my back pocket but they were actually half dollars. I was richer than I thought.

But they didn't mind.  They still loved getting in the rides and pretending they were going somewhere.
When she hopped into this helicopter, Darby said she was Murdoch and Bo was B.A. Baracus (for those that don't know those are two characters from the A-team....and yes our kids have watched them and apparently Darby has picked up on a few things....although I don't think she really pays attention)

Balloons

We had some extra balloons from Brad's birthday party. Darby took them with her when she got in the bin.

Brad's 48th!

Brad had his 48th birthday last week and I saw him for about 20 minutes when I landed late in Phoenix. I decided to throw together a very informal party last Sunday.  So informal that we decided on the dinner plans and dessert about two hours before.  Most of the time this is how we roll.

Ed, Eugene, Brian and his family all came over to celebrate.

Enjoying German Chocolate Cake

Playing Catan
We introduced everyone to our new favorite game.  The only problem is they didn't finish because the cut off was 10:00.  Too bad everyone had to go to work or school the next day.  I'm sure there will be more games of Catan in the future, now that everyone knows how to play.

Singing Happy Birthday!

Fun Dip

A friend sent me this picture of Ollie. It was from his class Valentine's Day Party after Ollie had some Fun Dip.    Love that smile!

Uncle Joe

My cousin Cameo and her husband Joe watched the kids on Friday night and spent the night until Saturday when we returned.  The kids were really upset when he had to leave.   They LOVE Uncle Joe! And he is now Ollie's best friend.

Cameo sent me this picture of Joe laying with Ollie at night.

Joe even came to watch Brody's basketball game.
