Boat Races

On Sunday it was just us. It was perfect.

More hot chocolate by the fire.

And a picture with me in it.  Proof that I was there too.

After we cleaned up breakfast we went down to the river.  But this time we went to a different spot, one we discovered on my morning walks with the kids.

We were there for hours.  The kids navigated the rocks, soaked their feet in the water and made boat races.  Brad even got in on the fun.

We finally went back to our campsite because we had to checkout by 2:00.  We were going to go back but Bo fell asleep in the 10 second car ride back to the river, so we ended up going home.

This time down by the river was one of my favorite moments from the weekend.

Birthday Party

We did a little exploring on the river before we had Colt's birthday party.

Grammy showed up first, early in the day.
Then Uncle Brian, Aunt Angie, Abi & Andrew showed up followed soon by Papa Bob & Grandma Shari.   We were pleasantly surprised when Uncle Jason, Sean (and his girlfriend) and Uncle Buddy (Ed) showed up too.

Denny Creek

We joined Brad and Colt up at Denny Creek for our birthday party weekend.

On Friday, Colt opened his presents from our family.

We were very surprised that we were allowed to have campfires at this campground.  So we had hot chocolate by the campfire in the morning.

SEVEN!

Last week Colt celebrated his 7th birthday. We missed the morning since we were coming back from our trip to Mt. Rainier. (Yes, I have a little mom guilt for it but I'm getting over it) We came back home and had waffles for lunch.

Then after work Brad took Colt up to Denny Creek to go camping, just the two of them.

A few pictures of Colt exploring on the rock.

At seven, Colt still continues to surprise us.  His quiet personality makes me think he would hesitate to try something but then he will just go and do it.   He continues to grow into a sweet boy with an endless sense of adventure (scares me a little too).   Seven is going to be an awesome year for Colt!

APV Tour

Brad went for a run down to Lake Sammamish State Park and noticed signage for a Volleyball tournament.  He was so excited about it and planned a day to go.   We already had plans so we couldn't join him but he was able to get his friend  Warren to come.

We did meet up with him in the late afternoon and took a few pictures.

Somebody handed Brody a mini volleyball so he went around getting autographs from all the athletes.  It's so fun watching him take courage to do these things.

2 day getaway - Day 2

We planned on hiking up to Camp Muir for our second day.   We decided to get an early start so went by the coffee shop and picked up some breakfast at 6:45.  When all was said and done we were hiking by 8:05.

This was our half way point.

We made it up to Camp Muir in just under 4 hours.  The Ranger said it would take between 3 and 8 so we were hoping we could get it done in 3, but we aren't in that good of shape.  Nonetheless, we were proud of our efforts.

We hiked up in our tennis shoes and with only our camelback.   It was a little scary but now that I've done it I can say its not that bad.

Our picture after our climb.  We are glad we finished our hike by the early afternoon so we could relax the rest of the day.

We went out to dinner and then got an evening coffee at the RMI cafe.

We are so thankful for our time together because it is very rare that we get this much time together.
