Colt's 1st Haircut

Last week we decided to give Colt his first haircut. Brad is always the barber and I'm the photographer/distractor/assistant.

A side view of the before hairstyle.

The haircut in action...

Can you tell how much Colt loves getting his hair buzzed?

He looks so happy now with Daddy by his side. And he looks more like a little boy.

FAQ for baby #3

Whenever someone is pregnant there seems to be the same questions floating around. Hopefully the following will answer your questions.

Was this "planned"?

We know that all babies are part of God's plan and are excited that we have been blessed with another pregnancy. We (or at least I) have enjoyed having Brody and Colt close in age and were not intimidated by the possibility of the next one being so close. (Colt and this baby will be 20 months apart). I also really liked the idea of a spring baby....being pregnant in the summer was not all that enjoyable for me. My "plan" was to have another spring baby and so here we are with a spring baby on the way.

You look like you are already in your six month. Are you having twins?

No. There is only one baby in there. (yes this was really asked...by my sister...I do love her!)

When are you due?

March 20th. I will be having another c-section so it will be planned for a week before my due date.

Are you going to find out the sex of the baby?

No. We did not find out with Brody & Colt and we really enjoy not knowing. We know it drives a lot of people crazy...sorry.

Are you feeling any different than the last two pregnancies?

I feel more tired and at times more nauseous, but with the other two pregancies I had a lot more time to sleep. I have been craving fruits and vegetables more this time. I remember craving lots of carbs with the boys. Not sure what that means....

You already have two boys. Are you hoping for a girl?

This is a difficult one because I will honestly be thrilled to have all boys. They are so much fun and we play with the coolest toys. We build stuff and race cars and play in the mud. (I know girls do these things too). I know my parents (with 7 grandsons and no granddaughters) would be excited to have a granddaughter and it would be kind of fun to have the first granddaughter. But to be honest raising a daughter scares me. There just seems to be so much pressure on girls these days. We are just excited to have another baby and continue to pray for a healthy pregnancy and baby.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask them...I am happy to answer.

Anything sweeter...?

I couldn't help but post a picture of Brody sleeping when he was only a few days old. (They grow up too fast)

Blackberries!

One of my all time favorite things to do is to pick blackberries. Every time I drive or walk by blackberry bushes and I don't have time or a bucket to pick them I am very disappointed. It even makes me more sad when I don't pick any blackberries during the whole season.

This year I went with my sister Jessie and our boys to pick blackberries. We didn't spend nearly as much time as I would have preferred but still managed to make enough blackberries to eat and to make blackberry cobbler.

Colt & Gunner stayed in the stroller drinking their milk but Brody was right in the middle of picking and eating blackberries. He didn't seem to mind the spider webs and sticker bushes. He just wanted us to put more blackberries in his bowl. Each time I put one in his bowl I had to take a few red ones out. He didn't understand the concept of "black" he wanted the red ones.

When we got back to Papa Bob & Grandma Shari's house, Papa Bob took a few pictures of Brody eating his blackberries.

Hopefully we will get a chance to pick a few more before the season is over.

Sounders Beach Blast Soccer Tournament

About a month ago a friend of mine asked if I would be interested in playing in a beach soccer tournament sponsored by the Seattle Sounders. I asked a few questions, neglected to look at my calendar and said I was in. In all honesty I didn't think we would register in time. After all, this was the first ever Beach Blast soccer tournament and they only had 16 spots for the women's teams. Surely, there would be more than 16 teams registered. While we were registering, Brad and another friend decided to form their own men's beach blast team. Within a week both teams were confirmed as in.

And so we were in....and we needed to figure out what all of this meant. We didn't know the rules...and the rules on their website were really vague and so we decided to just have some practices on the beach. With a few practices at Perrigo Park and a few at Alki we prepared for our tournament.

The Tuesday before the Sunday tournament we went to an informational meeting/kick off for the beach blast. The highlight was meeting some of the Sounders. I was able to meet my Sounders boyfriend, Osvaldo Alonso. I was so excited to get his autograph and get my picture with him. Then I realized that he really had no idea what I said to him. Oh well....I can still admire him when he is playing on the field.

Me & Brody and Osvaldo Alonso. Fredy Montero is next to us.

Our tournament was so much fun! We played 4 games. We won the first one 5 - 0. Lost 3 - 2. Won 3 - 1. Won 6 - 0. We did not have the best record in our bracket, but were hoping to get the wild card spot to advance to the semi-finals. We missed the semi-finals by one goal. We were all very bummed but had a super fun time.

My team - Wall of Cyn' (Short for Cynthia). Heather, Me, Mandy, Jeannine, Cynthia

It was especially fun to have a men's team to cheer on. The lost their first game and won their next two. (They only played 3 games in their round robin). They ended up advancing to the semi-finals and won 5 - 0. The were in the final game of the first ever Beach Blast soccer tournament. They played a great game and ended up tying in regulation. They went into overtime and finally a shoot out. Unfortunately they lost in the shootout.

A few pictures of Brad in action.

The boys had a great time playing at the beach. And we had some help from Papa Bob, Aunt Jessie, Uncle Brian and Aunt Angie to make sure they weren't eating too much sand.

We drove home talking about how much fun we had. We can't wait to play next year.
